4. Pre-Production
For my pre-production work, I mainly used Word and PowerPoint. I’ve
been using these two programmes for a large number of years and so I
was very comfortable using them.
I used YouTube for all of my research into different artists and
inspiration which was very helpful and easy to use as I’ve been using it
for many years.
I also used the scanner to scan in my storyboard drawings. In all
honesty I’d never used the scanner before so it was a useful skill and a
development from last year.
One more form of technology I used to help with my pre-production
was my iPhone and it’s on board calendar. This allowed me to see how
much time I had left to do things and I was also able to take
photographs of my set/locations with it’s camera function.
Lastly, I of course used Blogger on a PC to upload my finished work.
5. Production
During filming and the production of my music video, I used
just my Nikon dSLR camera with a wide-angle lens attachment. I
also used my iPhone to refer to my shot list on, which was a
perk as I didn’t need to carry an A4 sheet everywhere we went. I
feel like I’d learnt a lot since the previous year about shot
framing and different shot types so I was able to give more of a
variation this time around. I also remember having lots of
sheets of paper last year so just having all of the required
documentation on my phone was very helpful.
I also used a desktop halogen lamp for the indoor shots in
order to give it an early morning mood with the lighting. This
was essential because we were filming a morning shot when it
was actually starting to get dark outside.
And lastly, during the filming of the performance shots I used
some monitor speakers to play the track from the computer
through, so that my actors could mime properly.
6. Post-Production
For the post-production of my music video, I used
Adobe Premiere Pro for all of the editing and
threading together of the video. I also used my
camera and its SD card of course in order to
upload the footage from the production stage.
Since last year, I feel I’ve learnt more about
Premiere Pro and its tricks. However, one big
helper of that has been YouTube tutorials. I’m
comfortable with using YouTube and it’s been a
really handy reference for tips and tricks with
special FX on Premiere Pro.
7. Digipak
For my digipak I mainly used a PC with Adobe
Photoshop. This allowed me to edit various
photographs and provided a professional platform to
create my piece on. I’ve used Photoshop in the past and
so I was fairly adept at its use. However, when I was
stuck I referred back to YouTube tutorials to help me
figure out any extra tricks.
I also used my camera in order to actually take shots
with. I’ve studied Photography in the past and am used
to using a camera so this was no challenge.
8. Evaluation
Throughout my evaluation process I’ve used a number of different
platforms. For all the questions I used a computer and Blogger.
For Question 1 I used Word which I’m very confident with as I’ve
previously stated. I did also use my iPad for this question so I could edit
the 9 chosen frames together using a collage-making app I have on it. I
was very confident using this as I’ve used the app in the past and also
have owned the iPad for 3 years to be confident with it’s function.
For Question 2 I used Prezi, which was a lot more creative and pleasing
to use. I had no struggles with its use either as I used it for my AS
evaluation stage as well.
For Question 3, I made a film. So I used my iPad for its camera, Premiere
Pro. This wasn’t very challenging as I’ve had lots of practise with both. I
did also use my phone to write notes of the questions that I planned to
ask, and I also used Facebook to post my music video on and receive
feedback from my friends.
For Question 4, I used PowerPoint. I’m very confident using this as I have
done for years. However, I definitely feel more adept at being more
creative with it and improving its aesthetic.
