The document discusses the various technologies used at different stages of producing a media product. In the research stage, websites and YouTube provided inspiration and tutorials. Script writing software was used to create a professional script. Blogging software allowed progress updates to be recorded chronologically. A Canon DSLR and audio recorder captured high quality footage and sound. Premier Pro was used for editing and After Effects for titles. The completed product was exported and distributed on YouTube and social media for feedback. The producer learned about technological convergence enabling prosumer media creation and distribution from a laptop.
1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process
of constructing this product?
2. • When making my opening sequence, I’ve used
various amounts of digital technologies. In doing
so, i have learnt a lot about them.
• I have used different technologies for the
different stages of production
3. Production Life Cycle
When making a media product, there are different stages
you need to go through in order to come out with a
successful product. These stages are listed above.
4. Research and Development
Technologies were really helpful at this stage as they
enabled me to come up with an idea.
Some of the technologies i used were;
This is a website that has many different
opening sequences. This gave me inspiration
for my own ideas.
Youtube was also extremely helpful, as it
allowed me to watch tutorials to learn different
camera and editing techniques.
5. • is a free software that allows you to create a script, as well as
script breakdowns etc… It was very helpful as it allowed me to
create a script that looked professional and was very clear.
Pre-Production
Technologies in this stage were also very important, some
of the technologies i used in this stage were;
• Blogger allowed me to keep track of my progress and record all of
my updates so everything is kept in a chronological order and
looks neat
6. • I used the Canon EOS 70D to shoot the footage for my film. This allowed
me to get clear shots. This helped to get a professional looking film.
Production
• I also used a Tascam dr70d and pistol grip to record the sound for my film.
This enabled me to get clear and focused sound. This was helpful for
shooting the sound of the girl talking on the phone in the car.
7. Post-Production
• Premier Pro was the main technology i used in
post production. It allowed me to edit and cut
my entire film together. It gave me a simple yet
effective layout that was extremely important to
the success of my final product
• I used after effects to create my idents and
titles that appeared at the beginning of my
opening sequence.
8. • After finishing my media product, i exported it and put it on youtube.
This was done so i can embed it into my blog for people to see.
Distribution
Distribution is also another stage of the production cycle. It
allowed me to get people to see my film
• I used social networking sites such as facebook to upload
my film onto to gain audience feedback from people.
• Aswell as this, i downloaded my film as a .dcp file so
that it could be shown in the cinema.
9. What i have learnt
• I have learnt a lot from using technologies.
• Technological convergence has allowed me to make my
film and have enabled me to become a prosumer rather
than just a consumer.
• As well as technological convergence allowing me to
make my film, it has enabled me to edit and distribute my
film from the convenience of my laptop
• Due to the proliferation of technologies, people have
moved into a participatory culture, where we are able to
do things ourselves.
