1. What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?

2. For editing our opening we used Final Cut Pro. None of us were
familiar with the program so therefore at first we found it
hard to navigate. However we were able to use tutorials we
found online to help. These tutorials were both videos and
written guides. The website http://www.izzyvideo.com/final-
cut-pro-x-tutorial was particularly useful. After we
understood Final Cut Pro more we found it produced really
great results. The impact of this program on our piece was
phenomenal as a lot of our piece relies on effects and
editing.

3. Another bit of technology we found helpful, especially in
planning was our mobile phones. We used them a lot because of
it being a piece of convergent technology. We use it to
communicate with each other while planning outside out of
school. We also used it to access the Facebook app on our
phone so that we could contact our focus group and ask their
opinions. We also used it to access YouTube. Without the use
of phones we would not of been able to communicate anywhere at
any given time. Phones also helped us access existing media
while shooting so that our opening had common conventions of
psychological thriller in.

4. Another piece of convergent technology we used was the
internet. For example we used YouTube to look at existing
media to help us decide what codes and conventions to include
in our final piece. We also used it to access tutorials to
help us understand the other technology we were using. We also
again used it for Facebook and for creating a Focus Group. We
also used the internet to look at music and sound effects we
wanted for our final piece. By finding music and sound effects
online we were able to get them quickly rather then recording
them ourselves.

5. In our final piece we used two different cameras. One was the
Cannon D600 with the Tamron lens which we used for the
majority of our shots. This lens was good for our piece as we
found that we dint need a quicker lens as there wasn’t much
movement in the shots. We used online tutorials to help us
understand the functions of the camera. We also learnt a lot
through trial and error when we were doing tester shots. We
also used the Panasonic Lumix DMC-SZ8EB-K as in our piece we
had a few extreme close up shots. We originally tried to do
these shots with the Tamron lens however we found the quality
of the shot was high enough so therefore decided to use the
Lumix.
