             Strategically aligns, recommends and
              prioritizes projects

Project Sponsor Responsibilities
          Must have a vested interest in success of the project
          Empowers the team
          Breaks down barriers
          Responsible for project charter
          Must commit to active support
               – Helps kick off project
               – Meets regularly with Black Belt to review progress
               – Attends the final out-brief
          Signs off on Project Tollgates
          Celebrates project success

Process Owner Responsibilities
       Individual(s) responsible for the implementation of
        process changes
       Can be (but does not have to be) Project Sponsor or
        Black Belt
       Works with Project Sponsor to develop project
        charter
       Must commit to active support as full time or part
        time team member – no surprises!
       Signs off on Project Tollgates
       Implements process sustainment
       Collects, monitors and reports benefits

Resource/Financial Manager

       Helps to determine financial and operational
        benefits of the project
       Signs off on Financial Benefit estimates at the
        Measure and Control phases of the project
       Often collects and reports benefits
       Validates actual financial and operational
        benefits achieved

Master Black Belt Responsibilities

               Provides leadership and guidance for CPI
                implementation
               Provides guidance and counsel to the site
                Commander, CPI Office, Senior Leadership,
                Project Sponsors, and Belts in CPI efforts
               MBB may also be assigned to enterprise-wide
                projects and Value Stream transformations
               Train and mentor belts

Black Belt Responsibilities


     Assist Project Sponsor and teams to lead, schedule,
      plan and facilitate at least 2 CPI projects
     Often assigned to Value Stream transformations
     Full time or part time
     Train and/or mentor Green Belts and team members

Green Belt Responsibilities
         Under the guidance of a Black Belt:
          Lead, schedule, plan and facilitate CPI events
           and projects
          Assist team with outbriefs
          Capture results, lessons learned and future
           opportunities
          Normally works for the Project Sponsor and
           may be part-time or full-time
          Train and mentor team members

The Roles of Change
          Process Owners/Project Sponsors:
                 – The individual or group who has the power to
                   sanction or legitimize change
                 – Responsible for creating an environment that
                   enables the necessary changes to be made on
                   time and within budget
          Change Agents:
                 – The individuals or groups who are responsible
                   for actually making the change
                 – Understand and diagnose the problem, develop
                   a plan to address the problem and execute the
                   change effectively (Green Belts, Black Belts,
                   and Team Members)

UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO Process Owner Responsibilities  Individual(s) responsible for the implementation of process changes  Can be (but does not have to be) Project Sponsor or Black Belt  Works with Project Sponsor to develop project charter  Must commit to active support as full time or part time team member – no surprises!  Signs off on Project Tollgates  Implements process sustainment  Collects, monitors and reports benefits 7 UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO

UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO Master Black Belt Responsibilities  Provides leadership and guidance for CPI implementation  Provides guidance and counsel to the site Commander, CPI Office, Senior Leadership, Project Sponsors, and Belts in CPI efforts  MBB may also be assigned to enterprise-wide projects and Value Stream transformations  Train and mentor belts 9 UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO

UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO Black Belt Responsibilities  Assist Project Sponsor and teams to lead, schedule, plan and facilitate at least 2 CPI projects  Often assigned to Value Stream transformations  Full time or part time  Train and/or mentor Green Belts and team members 10 UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO

UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO Green Belt Responsibilities Under the guidance of a Black Belt:  Lead, schedule, plan and facilitate CPI events and projects  Assist team with outbriefs  Capture results, lessons learned and future opportunities  Normally works for the Project Sponsor and may be part-time or full-time  Train and mentor team members 11 UNCLASSIFIED / FOUO
