2. My Print
How have the producers tried to make you buy these products?
I have used a number of different ways to try and make people want to by
the product advertised, I have decided to use a skateboard because I feel as
if my target group will relate, I have also used I number of different colours
to ensure my poster stands out to the viewer, I have also added the
different social media links, I did this because once the person has looked
at the poster they can then go on to the different media platforms to find
out more information.
Lines of Appeal
The different lines of appeal that I have used in my poster are, having an
elite person/ expert skateboarding. This will attract my target audience to
buying the product because, they will look up to the skater as a role model
in a way and will want to be like him.
How has it been put together?
I used Photoshop to produce my poster on, I shot the photo on a
professional camera. I had planned everything out beforehand, colours
would use and the text.

4. My Video
How have the producers tried to make you buy these
products?
I have used a number of different ways to get people to buy
the product I’m advertising, the way I have done this is, I
have used different themed colours for different scenes to
show different feelings within my video, for example when
the person drinks the drink the background colour turns
orange, this will then make my target audience believe that
the drink I am advertising can make them feel stronger,
more powerful and this will ultimately entice them to buy
the product.
How was it all put together?
I used Premier Pro, to put together my video, I also
used a professional camera to shoot the footage on, I
had shoot the footage a number of times to make
sure it was good. My video follows a sequel of
scenes, that I have made sure are all in order.
5. Real Video
How have the producers tried to make you buy this product?
The producers have used many ways to try and persuaded people, to shop
at John Lewis this Christmas with this advert. In this advert they have used a
realist narrative throughout the advert, portraying a real life event. Because
when the child goes downstairs you see everyone smiling and having a good
time, but also the advert has some elements of Anti-Realist, because the
child has an imaginary friend that isn’t real, and it’s something you wouldn’t
see in real life. The producers have also used Lines of Appeal to make there
target audience connect with the advert, you can see this because they
have used the “Happy families” setting where everyone looks happy, they
have used this because the producers know that everyone can relate to this.
They have also used “Dreams and fantasy” setting because the producers
know that young children would be able to relate to this, also older people
because we have all had dream and fantasy’s, therefore we can relate.
How Successful is it in wanting you to buy this product?
I think this advert has been very successful in getting people to shop at John
Lewis this Christmas, because of the story they have used behind the
advert, I think people will really fall for the story and epically the child and
his imaginary monster, this advert will definitely pull on the heart strings
and will ultimately make people want to shop there, also because this will
make them believe that John Lewis can give them a Christmas that they
won’t get anywhere else. The advert is also going to to successful because
of the Lines of Appeal they have used and the Realist Narratives they have
used.
6. My Advergame
How have the producers tried to make you buy
this product?
The producers have used different Lines of
Appeal in this game, to make there target
audience buy this product, they have used
“Elite people and Experts” in this game. This
being the skateboarder, there target audience
and young children that will be playing the
game will be interested in this product because
they may want to be a skateboarder when they
grow up. They have used another Line of
Appeal, that being “Successful Careers
How has it been put together?
I produced my Advergame on Photoshop,
before I produced it, I planned out everything,
what colours and props I would use and the
general storyline. Once I had produced it on
Photoshop I then exported it in to Premiere Pro,
where I then added different sound effects to
ultimately bring the game to life.
7. Real Advergame
How have the producers tried to make you buy this
product?
The producers have used many different ways to try and
make there target audience buy this product, the colour
scheme and general layout of this product is very
effective in making sure this product sells, the producers
have used a different range of colours here, and you’ll see
that every colour stands out to attract the preferred
target audience. This Advergame is based on the popular
cereal brand Chex, therefore the producers have a certain
type of audience/age range they will be hoping to reach
out to. This Advergame also has Lines of Appeal, the
target audience will find a connection with this product
because it has setting of “Dreams and fantasy”, also think
that the target audience will see the character in this
game as so what heroic and powerful because of the way
he is portrayed.
8. Print Comparison
Weaknesses and Strengths on my poster
Weaknesses: The weaknesses that I have found looking at my own
poster is, I could of put more information on, and added more effects
to the background if I had been given more time, I also would have
used an actual skateboard, to make my poster look more professional.
Strengths: The strengths I found looking at my own poster, is my target
audience can easily understand what I am trying to advertise, another
strength I have found is that I have put on external links to what I am
advertising, this means that people can go away after looking at my
poster and look at my product in more detail on social media. Another
strength is the colours I have used throughout my advert, they are very
fitting towards my product.
similarities and differences, towards my poster and the real one.
The similarities I have found looking at my poster and the real one is,
they are both understandable to viewer, they both have slogans,
another similarity that I found was, both poster are reaching out to the
same age target audience. Another similarity is, both posters have
been made using the same software. Both posters have there slogans
placed at the top of the poster.
The differences I have found looking at the real poster and my one, is
this poster is advertising a completely different product to what I’m
advertising, the colours used in this poster are different to the colours
used in my poster.
9. Video Comparison
Weaknesses and strengths for my poster.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses I found looking at my video, were that the steadiness of
the camera needed improving for the video to look more professional, another
weakness I found was that the video had no music, this makes the video less exciting
and noticeable to my target audience.
Strengths: The strengths I found were that, you can easily understand what I’m
advertising also another strength is the colours I have used throughout my video, the
colours play a big part in attracting my target audience. Another strength I found was
the scene where the actor is drinking the drink and the colour changes in the
background, this will attract my target audience because they will think if they drink
the drink it will give them a powerful feeling and they’ll be able to do exactly what the
actor does in the video.
similarities and differences, My video/Real video.
The Similarities I have found looking at the real video and my one is, they both have
lines of appeal. They both have a “Fantasy and dream” setting I believe because, in my
video when the actor drinks the drink and pretends to become powerful and catches
the robber, It’s not a real feeling, the drink doesn’t actually make you powerful or
make you run faster, but when it comes to my target audience they will believe this.
The differences I have found looking at the real video and my own one is, they both
have completely different products that are trying to be sold, and both have different
story lines, the John Lewis advert has been aimed at a certain target group and the
producers are hoping to get a certain reaction out of people when they watch it.
10. Advergame Comparison
Weaknesses and strengths of my Advergame.
Weaknesses: The weaknesses I found looking at my advergame in comparison with
the real one is, that the real one has much more of a storyline, the producers of
this game have used a lot more colours, compared to me as I haven’t. Also another
weaknesses I found looking at my game was attention to detail, my game has been
very much just put together, and I feel if I had been given more time I would of
worked a lot more on detail of each prop and my character.
Strengths: The strengths I found looking at my game were that, you can easily
understand what I am advertising, as I know my target audience will spot the
colours of Irn-Bru and will know instantly, another strength I found was the sound
effects that I had used for my game were very fitting, and fit well with the game.
Another strength I found was that I had used good Line of Appeal, this is “Elite
people or experts” this will ultimately attract my target audience to wanting to buy
my product.
