3. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– When working with this medium it gave me more ideas as to how I could set out my
advert, it gave me more ideas as to how I could structure the advert to make it more
appealing to my target audience. Another advantage is that it’s a lot easier to make
adverts this way, the only skills you need are creativity and a basic knowledge of how to
use Photoshop.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– One disadvantage is that if you have never used Photoshop before you might become
easily confused when trying to make your advert.
– There are limitations to making your advert, for example if you are looking for a specific
image or font and you can’t find them you will need to find something else that you can
use.
4. Graphic Design
Production
Background Photos
For the background of my advert
I decided to make it a dark
creepy forest because my advert
is Halloween themed and I
decided to go with a Jason theme
as he is a well known horror
movie villain. I also think that it
aims well at my target audience
because everyone knows who
Jason is. Another reason I
decided to do my advert like this
is because I wanted it to have a
retro theme, and Jason works
well with it.
Retro Theme
Another retro element of
this poster is the body I
have placed Jason’s head
onto, the body, hand and
crate of coke is from a very
old coke advert.
Colour Scheme
For the colour scheme of
my advert I decided to
use Cokes original (red
and yellow) as it matched
the camp crystal lake sign
and it’s the colours Coke
would have been using
around the time the first
Friday the 13th film came
out.
Font
For the slogan “life tastes
good” I decided to use a horror
font that looks like blood
writing, I kept it red to keep
with Coke’s theme, I also made
the border of the words the
same yellow to give it some
more boldness.
Social Media
I have added some social
media icons for my target
audience which is between
16 – 18 year olds, and
between those ages I
know everyone my age
lives on social media, so
they can see it online from
one of the coke accounts
on any social media
platform.
5. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– When working in this medium it gave me more ideas as to how I could make a Coke advert because
in this medium it’s easier to get your point across about the product to your target audience,
instead of just a still image you can promote the product with the words you choose and how
happy the person sounds.
– You have more of a chance to persuade your target audience by what you use in your advert, and
you’re advert is more likely to be heard on the radio instead of on a poster, for example if your
target audience is working people you know they’ll be driving and have the radio on, whereas a
poster isn’t going to be as noticeable.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– One disadvantage of working in this medium is that if you’re not a very persuasive or confident
person you might find it difficult to be able to come up with something compelling to sell your
product to your audience.
– If you were doing this for your job you would have to consider what radio station your advert is
getting played on, for example if it’s radio one you know a lot of people will hear it, but if it’s on a
less popular station it might not be heard as much, which means the product you are advertising
might not have much sales.
6. Radio Production
• Our radio production is to advertise for Coca Cola, the target audience is aimed at people
aged between 16-18 years old. We did research on existing coke radio adverts to get ideas
and inspiration on how we could make ours. A lot of the adverts are made to make coke
seem like a drink that makes you happy, that’s how they advertise it. Yet they do change
their advertising techniques when they advertise the different products, sometimes they
choose a different target audience, for example they usually advertise diet coke at women,
they do this showing a group of women drinking diet coke, or an older advert they did was a
diet coke advert showing it empowering women. Coke adverts always include a lot of sound
effects as well, usually it’s the sound of the someone opening a can or a bottle of coke, it’s
usually advertised like this to make coke sound refreshing, which is what we did in our
advert.
7. Radio Production
• Coca cola is a well established company which has been running for nearly one hundred
years, it has a very well known place in the public everyone knows what coke is and
everyone at some point has had coke, this is one of cokes main strengths. Another strength
of coke is that it has a good range of products, they make more than one drink, with each
drink they have a different target audience, for example diet coke is usually advertised
towards women, coke life is advertised towards people who want to be healthier, and
normal coke is advertised towards everyone. Cokes main advertising technique
9. Video Game Production
• Advantages of working in this medium
– One advantage of working in this medium is that you get to be really creative when
making your advergame, as long as it advertises the product you are trying advertise
then you can be as creative as you want. Another advantage of working in this medium
is that it is quite simple to work on, it’s just as case of moving things frame by frame on
Photoshop.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium
– One disadvantage of working in this medium is that if you have no previous Photoshop
experience you might find it difficult to create your advergame, another disadvantage is
that you might find it hard to come up with an idea that advertises the product you are
advertising.
10. Video Game
Production
One similarity is that in both
games you have collect thing,
in my game you have to get
the coke vending machine. But
in cokes game you need to
collect the presents.
Another similarity is that
both games have a clear
coca cola promotion, so
the audience can clearly
see the game is directly
linked to coke.
One difference in the games is
that the game on the bottom left
has a lot more detail than the
advergame I made.
11. Video Game Production
One strength of my
advergame is that it is
clear that I am advertising
for Coke. Another
strength is that because I
have a young target
audience the advergame
will be well advertised.
One weakness of my advergame is
because I have aimed it at a
younger target audience the older
generation will take no interest in
the advergame.
One difference I would make
to my product is to add more
colour and some sound
effects, to make the
advergame more interesting.
Another difference I would
make to my product is to add
more things to it to make it
feel like a retro video game,
like more power ups,
characters, scoreboard and
different backgrounds.
12. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the
product the best? Why?
I think that my poster advertises the product best, I think this because I found it easier to advertise the
poster more towards my target audience, and other target audiences, I made my poster advertise towards
everyone.
• Which of your products is the most professional?
Why?
I think the poster I made is the most professional of my products, I think this because I think I was more
creative when making the poster, I found it easier to be creative with. I also think it advertises Coke the best
out of my other products, I considered my target audience and the time of year more when making it, which
means I was able to advertise the product better. The poster is more noticeable to the public, posters can go
anywhere, which means anyone can see it, whereas not everyone will hear it on the radio or see the
advergame.
