Representations of my magazine
1. How my pop magazine
represents people:
By Kellie Willows
2.
3. Representation through fonts:
The use of fonts in my magazine help to show
conventional representations of my magazine and the
pop artists that are featured inside. All of the fonts
that I have used throughout my magazine are
feminine through the use of serif style font or
through the use of a bright feminine colour. The
majority of my magazine is in Serif font, however if
the text is not in this style font there is a feminine
colour used such as pink or yellow to represent my
magazine as very feminine and bright.
By including Serif bold font is represents the artists
that are featured inside as friendly and confident
artists which is conventional for the pop genre.

5. Representation through colours:
The colours that I have used in the magazine help to
create conventional representations of my
magazine, the colours that I have used throughout
my magazine are pinks, purples, greens and yellows.
The reason that I chose to use these colours in my
magazine is because they are conventional for the
genre of my magazine which is pop, these colours all
connote friendliness, happiness, femininity and
youth which represents my magazine as
conventional.
Not only will these colours represent my magazine
as conventional and a friendly, feminine magazine
but it will also represent all of the artists and
celebrities that are featured inside as this as well.
The reason why I chose to contrast the colour pink
on the background of yellow is to make the writing
stand out more and look bolder, this represents the
magazine as bold and outgoing and therefore will
represent the artists as this too.
6.
7. Representation through images:
The use of images throughout my magazine build up the conventional
representations of the artists and celebrities that are featured inside
my magazine, the use of close up and low angle shots that are used
throughout create a representation of the artists as dominant and
friendly. The artists are represented as friendly though the mid and
close up shots, this is the way that they are positioned and their facial
expressions, for example when the artist shown in the image on the
right is smiling it represents them as a very friendly and happy person.
The use of mise-en scene throughout represent the artists for what
they are known for, for example if the artist was standing with some
make-up or images of make-up next to their image then this
represents that they are a make-up artist or a celebrity related to
make-up.
8.
9. Representation through language:
The language that I have used throughout my magazine is informal and chatty, this type
of language represents that audience of my magazine as young, friendly and chatty
people that are very similar to the readers.
An example of how language is represented in this way is when language such as
“Ooops” and “Check this out”. This language is representing a very informal and
youthful feel that represents to the audience that it is youth related, informal and very
friendly magazine.
10. Representation through content:
The topics and content of my magazine represents all of the featured artists and celebrities
are vey bubbly, lively and sweet people. This is represented through the images and cover
stories that are used throughout. For example, the cover story saying “Connor Maynard
confesses his true love” represents this artist as being a very cute and sweet young boy that
has his first love.
The use of an images on my front cover showing very excited artists that look excited and
bubbly represents to the reader that these artists are lively and fun. This representation is
also added to through the caption that is used which is “Louis goes nuts”, this represents that
this artist is wild and daring.
