What kind of media
institutions might distribute to
your media product and
why?

Definition of institution
 An institution is an organisation or company, that is privately or publicly
owned and creates/distributes media products.
Examples of institutions:
➢ 20th Centaury Fox
➢ Warner Bros
➢ Universal
➢ Paramount
When we thought of marketing our film, we were thinking of a couple of people
hearing about it as well as viewing it. Hence we are aiming for a bigger target
audience to know about our film so we are going to use social media to make
more people aware of our film. The idea that we thought was to share links on
social such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Email. We are aware
that the society uses many different forms of social media so this is a great
opportunity for us to advertise our film and getting more people to see it without
paying anything really and using social media will guarantee us to get a wider
target audience as people would be telling each other about our production.
Of course any institution such as Warner Bros or Universal would disperse their
films to cinemas in the country as well as outside of the country too which they
would sell as merchandise over DVD’s which would be sold in shops or even to
Netflix where people pay monthly to watch any movies are no longer in
cinemas nor have access to any cinemas nearby.
 Researched showed that 20th Centaury Fox has had the rights to adapt the novel
called ‘The fault in our stars’ into a film which was a worldwide favourite
Romance/Drama movie. It was really popular and has became number one at the
box office during it’s opening weekend.
 20th Centaury Fox is an American film studio and is one of the Big Six major
American film studios. The studio has created many different genres’ films but as our
film production is Romance/Drama we mainly did a research about them. And we
found that the studio also created Titanic which is another well known movie world
wide.
 20th Centaury Fox was founded on the 31st of May 1935 by Joseph Schenk and
Darryl F. Zanuck.
 For our film production 20th Centaury Fox is the most suitable film studio that
we could find as they have produced many Romance/Drama genre films
that has had and still has an extremely wide target audience. This would
definitely help us increase our sales and also helps us to gain a bigger
target audience. Of course the studio has created many different types of
genre films that have been successful too so therefore in the future if we
would think of creating a horror or comedy film 20th Centaury Fox would be
the best studio for us to work with.
