• CAN receives funding from Canucks for Kinds Fund and Vancouver Canucks organization
• CAN (n.d.) offers supported programs for individuals with autism to build confidence and
skills necessary to enjoy a lifetime of sport and physical activity
• CAN is a registered charity under the CRA (Federal Agency) and has many sponsors and
donors which allows fees to be subsidized (CAN, n.d.)
• Offers year-round recreation, sport programs, training services in British Columbia
communities (CAN, n.d.)

Physical Education
• Programs are designed for individuals with autism to enhance confidence and skills needed for a lifetime of
sport and physical activity (CAN, n.d.)
Recreation
• The CAN (n.d.) is in BC and offers programs for children, youth, adults with autism and their families to
promote health and well-being through recreation and sport
Coaching
• It develops fundamental movement skills, social skills, sport-focused skills, physical & mental health skills, life
skills and arts & technology to improve each individuals overall quality of life (CAN, n.d.)
• CAN launched a Supporting Positive Behaviour Module that is a program called Coaching Kids of All Abilities
(CAN, n.d.)
4. BC Soccer

• Services the soccer community (BC Soccer, n.d.)
• Promotes and develops youth and adult soccer in BC
• Offers various recreation/competitive programs for members, participants and the soccer
community
• BC Soccer (n.d.) is membership based, has 14 board directors, and 4 standing committees and 5
operational committees who are in authority
• Funded by participant and member fees, government grants, VIA sport (BC Soccer, n.d.)

.Coaching
• BC Soccer (n.d.) implements the LTPD model for Canadian Soccer Association via elite and
grass roots service plans, club members, provincial players development programs and coach
development programs
• Provides a road map for soccer players of all ages and abilities and offers individuals to
participate in soccer at any level while promoting lifelong participation
• LTPD Soccer programs for children focus on active start, fundamental, learn to train programs
• Youth Programs follow soccer for life, train to train and train to compete programs
• Adult programs are recreational following soccer for life or train to win profession leagues
6. Non-Profit Community Center
• Provides programs for the general public with the goal of
unifying and strengthening the community (Place
Maillardville, n.d.).
• Funded by donations, volunteers and government grants
• Offers a wide variety of programs for parents and their
child under 18 months old
• Early years programs are for children 3-5 who French
Immersion and are play based (Place Maillardville, n.d.).
• The children programs range from dance classes to arts
and crafts
• Provides free youth after school drop-in programs such as
cooking classes, dance classes, and language classes

• Promotes a sense of self and belonging in a French community
• Encourages youth to become physical active activity by offering Free Drop in
classes
• Free-drop in classes give youth something to do and promotes a healthy life style
• Builds a strong community and social networks

Voluntary Sector- The Boulders Climbing Gym

Service Sector
Voluntary- “Boulders is a non-for-profit society in Central Saanich, BC,
and has a goal of making climbing accessible for everyone, regardless of
ability or ability to pay” (Climb The Boulders, n.d.).

Physical Education, Coaching, & Recreation- The Climbing is attached to Stelly’s High
School and PE classes have the opportunity to climb as part of their curriculum. The
school offers a climbing academy as well. The gym is a community facility and a unique
social enterprise that offers rehabilitation programs, adaptive recreation, youth
recreational and competitive programs (Climb The Boulders, n.d.). The gym provides a
variety of programs for any age or ability. Their competitive team is run by world class
coaches. Program rates can be discounted through the Belayment Program which
requires climbers to belay for private parties during commercial hours (Climb The
Boulders, n.d.). The gym focuses on their members having fun, creating friendships and
being part of a community, this allows their cliental to expand and keep the gym running

• The middle schools provides services such as physical education classes, and athletics
programs and services for youth
• The school distract SD43 receives funds from Foundation, fundraising and the
government
• Provides students access to recreation activities and coaching (Lunn, 2020)
• Provides teaching employment opportunities (Lunn, 2020)

• P.E. classes are mandatory for every student in the middle school
• Teaches students the importance of being physically active, the benefits and how it can enhance their general
well-being
Recreational
• The middle offers sport programs with a wide range of physical activities
• Encoring students to participate in recreation activities
Coaching
• Athletic teams include rugby, track & field, basket ball, etc. The schools athletic teams are free and provide
students with a chance to be competitive.
• Students follow the LTPD model

• Their focus is to deliver quality climbing programs for any levels with the hope of

program services

• Youth development program Climb4Life focuses on athletes with the hope of them participating in
climbing for life
• Coaches work on developing climbing principles and physical development and design each program

• Is a friendly social community and hosts fun and challenging events
• Encourages a healthy lifestyle
• Builds confidence, positive self-image and reduces stress while staying physically fit

• Services include personal training, sport performance, fitness classes/bootcamps and nutritional

activities such as swimming, skating,

Recreation:
• The community connects to the Canada Sport for Life Model because tit gives the general public the
opportunity to live an active and healthy lifestyle
• It is aimed to build a strong community and the recreation activities reduces loneliness and stress
while enhancing individuals self-esteem, quality of life and social network (Lunn, 2020).
Coaching:
• The community center offers coaching for different activity such as figure skating, hockey, lacrosse
for all ages.
• There are coaching services for all ages and specific programs focus on Active Start, FUNdamentals,
Learn to Train, Train to Train and Train to Compete.

• Adult recreation center that offers drop in and
registered programs for all abilities and interests
• Programs include guitar lesson, drawing, painting,
line dancing, photography, fitness classes
• Operated by the City of Coquitlam Parks,
Recreation and Culture Department

while enhancing their overall health
• Promotes an active lifestyle with the aim of improving confidence and self-image
