The document describes Josh Palmer's process for creating pixel art elements for a game. 2. Process
• Firstly I made a stick man character using the pencil tool
on one pixel and made his legs and arms first. Then I
Increased the pixel size to create his head.
• Secondly I made the ghost, to make it I mad a black
circle with the pencil tool and then I used the colour
white, as the ghost is white, to create a ghost. I did
chequered marks at the bottom so it looks like it is
flying.
• Thirdly I mad a reapers weapon by also using the pencil
tool in black to make the outline and then coloured it
grey.
• Next I made a golf club by making a grey out line with
the pencil tool and colouring in the rest with suitable
colours (brown and darker grey).
• Finally I made the a actual platform by using the pencil
tool and making a light brown square and then filling it
in with darker brown, apart from a 2 pixel outline. Then I
used the pencil tool again to make and green grassy area
at the top. I filled a few of the green pixels in with darker
green colour for the grassy effect. Then I Used the eraser
tool to make a bone shape in the brown. After I got back
to the pencil tool and used grey to make gravestones. I
then used a darker grey to make the right gravestone
look like it has writing on it. Then I used a light grey to
make a pole and added a red flag on the end.
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• Refer to the brief: Ghost Game
– I am going to include the everything in my final game but I am going to
edit them to look a lot better. For example I will make the ghost cemetrical
or even make it look more human like. I will keep the stickman concept
but I will edit him to look better and more like a golfer. The reaper weapon
I will either give it to the ghost or make it into a golf club. For the platform
I will make more and make it into an puzzle/crazy golf course.
– I have to keep the ghost in as it is a ghost game, so I will either make the
game about a person that frees the ghosts when getting the ball into the
hole or I will make the ghost the enemy and you unlock keys to him as the
levels go on.
