2. • This was my first experiment of my print project.
• I mainly used it to get to grips with the the tropes of a magazine
cover.
• This includes the title which I have hidden partly behind part of the
front cover to create the a 3-D illusion. This is further developed
upon by the three smaller images at the bottom of the page. These
are all on different levels, again giving more depth to the cover.
• I also used it to develop my skills it Photoshop and more specifically
extracting a person from a background and just using the asset of
that person. I feel that this definitely helped me in my final project
and think it works nicely here.
• The one part of this experiment that probably does not work as well
is the text and the text bubbles. This creates an amateur look and the
text bubbles are unnecessary and do not work aesthetically with the
rest of the piece.

3. Front cover: Experiment 2
• My next experiment involved using assets from the show that I
knew I would be using as the subject of my front cover.
• In this I tried to use all I had learned from my earlier
experiment. As you can see it has a very similar look as I felt
this formula had worked well. With the main focus on the
creator of a piece of media and then some of his work below
him. I felt it created depth nicely whilst also looking like it
could attract the readers eye, having enough on it not to look
blank or bland but not so much that the eye is confused and
you aren't sure where to focus.
• During this experiment I tried to improve the text, I made sure
the title was easier to see (but still added depth) and I got rid
of the text bubbles. I feel as this makes for a more classy
aesthetic and makes for a more professional looking piece
where the theme across the page is consistent.
4. Website: Experiment 1
• This was my very first website experiment.
• It taught me a lot about website building and
helped me learn the basics. Including
uploading photos and making articles.
• However I feel that this website looks highly
unprofessional and does not have the look
that I would want for a website.
• The white background makes it look like a
blogging website and not one for a magazine.
• The front page does not display enough
information and is not simple enough to use.
5. Website: Experiment 2
• This was my second experiment.
• This one has far more of a resemblance to my final
website. It has a far more professional and developed feel
than my previous experiment. The homepage has images
that work nicely together and give a nice varied feel. It
includes the titles to articles and makes it feel nice and
accessible.
• Some of the text does not stand out as much as I would
like and this means that article titles can take to long to
read.
• I also created a mock-up page of an online article. I feel
this follows traits of other magazines websites and works
nicely with the idea of a trailer of the review at the
bottom of the page, this increases interactivity as well as
making the website unique to the magazine.
6. Double Page Spread: Experiment
• This experiment follows a lot of conventions of
many magazine double page spreads. This
includes using plenty of supporting images and
one larger image. I would go on to use this in my
project.
• One problem with this experiment is that the
words leak to the edge of the page and so this
would not look good when printed out. And so in
my final project I amended this.
• All the text look rather similar in this article and
so in my final piece I added a section for
recommended shows to break up the text.
• This piece also uses to many photos, so that it
becomes a little crowded.
