This document discusses the conventions of digipaks and magazine advertisements for music albums. It provides details on the typical elements included on the front and back covers of digipaks, such as the artist name, album name, track listing, images, and logos. It also outlines the common components of magazine advertisements, like the artist name, album name, release date, singles, images, and record label logos. The document applies these conventions to the creation of a digipak and advertisement for an original album, including rationale for design choices.

7. Overall, I believe my front cover conforms to the conventions of digipaks
because it contains the artist’s name and album name (self-titled) and a main
image. I also included an age rating on the front cover because it contains a
DVD. I chose the BBFC rating of ‘PG’ due to the use of alcohol in my music video
which is not often seen on the cover of albums.

9. The back cover of my digipak conforms to the conventions of digipaks because
it uses conventions such as track listing, main image, barcode and logos and
copyright information. Something I did add to the back cover was the
album/artist name because it would be Angelique’s debut album, I want
audiences to not forget who she is so I used it on the back cover as well as the
front cover.

16. My advertisement conforms to the conventions of existing magazine advertisements. It
consists of my artists/album name (self-titled), a release date, the lead single title, main
image, website URL and record label logos.
Like the Olly Murs poster, I used the same main image of the digipak image to create synergy
between my digipak and magazine advertisement so my audience can recognise the digipak if
they went to a store to buy the album or ordered it off online stores.
I went on to add a social media name below the release date as record labels turn their artists
into brands with big fan bases to boost the sales of music. Social media has revolutionised
communication around the world, not requiring phone calls and text messages in order to
communicate with a person directly. Social media has allowed artists and other famous
people in entertainment to communicate with their fans and to build their brand which
increases popularity, which boost sales.
Also, due to the proliferation and technologically converged devices such as smartphones and
tablets, people rely on applications for entertainment therefore I added Spotify and Apple
Music App logos at the bottom left corner as streaming is now popular.
