Digipak and poster Analysis
I have decided to research into the conventions of magazine adverts and also Digi packs of
artist’s music. When creating both of these I want to involve all of the typical conventions of
the genre I am using for my music video. These typical conventions include the use of
Release Dates, simple Images, Reviews, the name of their album, the record label and finally
an image which could link with the name of the album name.
Typically on the cover of a Digi pack for the house music genre they include an image of the
artist that links in with the main music video you’re trying to sell this is so that the audience
can see a clear link between all of their products and create a brand identity. The Audience
usually remember a specific artist by their name or by the image displayed on the Digi pack.
The name of the artist and the name of the album are usually very clear and positioned
centrally so it’s clear to the buyers, this doesn't happen on every album cover but typically
this draws in the audience’s attention. On the back of the digipak they usually again have an
image of the artist, the sound tracks on the album, bar code and the record company. Inside
the digipak there are normally more images of the artist and lyrics to the song so that the
audience can sing along to the music.
As you can see from the Digi packs above these are by artists who are associated with house
music and they all show similarities in the layout of the Digi pack. For example each digipack
has the name of the artist(s) either in the middle or at the top of the digipack which is in
clear font and font colour. Underneath the artists name is always the name of the album or
song again in clear font and colour and finally a simple image appears on the cover which
could be relevant to the name of the album. However these digipacks are not bright and
colourful and are not full with images and songs, they are very simple but effective in order
to gain the audience’s attention and attract potential customers.

Digi-pack and Poster Design Analysis

  • 1. Digipak and poster Analysis I have decided to research into the conventions of magazine adverts and also Digi packs of artist’s music. When creating both of these I want to involve all of the typical conventions of the genre I am using for my music video. These typical conventions include the use of Release Dates, simple Images, Reviews, the name of their album, the record label and finally an image which could link with the name of the album name. Typically on the cover of a Digi pack for the house music genre they include an image of the artist that links in with the main music video you’re trying to sell this is so that the audience can see a clear link between all of their products and create a brand identity. The Audience usually remember a specific artist by their name or by the image displayed on the Digi pack. The name of the artist and the name of the album are usually very clear and positioned centrally so it’s clear to the buyers, this doesn't happen on every album cover but typically this draws in the audience’s attention. On the back of the digipak they usually again have an image of the artist, the sound tracks on the album, bar code and the record company. Inside the digipak there are normally more images of the artist and lyrics to the song so that the audience can sing along to the music. As you can see from the Digi packs above these are by artists who are associated with house music and they all show similarities in the layout of the Digi pack. For example each digipack has the name of the artist(s) either in the middle or at the top of the digipack which is in clear font and font colour. Underneath the artists name is always the name of the album or song again in clear font and colour and finally a simple image appears on the cover which could be relevant to the name of the album. However these digipacks are not bright and colourful and are not full with images and songs, they are very simple but effective in order to gain the audience’s attention and attract potential customers.
