1) The document discusses issues facing the deaf and LGBT communities in York, England, including a lack of dedicated community spaces like clubs.
2) It notes that while apps have replaced in-person meetings, face-to-face interaction is important for mental health and community.
3) The author advocates for the creation of deaf clubs and LGBT nightclubs in York to better support and serve these communities locally without requiring travel.
2. Fade In
Scene One
(The film shooting around the York, York Minister, Clifford
Tower, old buildings shop and people walking.)
(The presenter come up after the videos)
In the 21st century most people, LGBTQ+ or straight, use phone
apps to meet people, rather than going out to find partners.
That’s why most people struck at home and can’t bother going
out to town to meet other people.
From now, the people start less and less to going to Deaf Club or
LGBT nightclubs because over the phone apps. I think that
should be going out and meet new people to chatting face to face
make you feel confident and happy better than phone apps
because phone apps can make you turn to poor mental health.
We should start less use the phone and spend more time to meet
new people and new experience. I know York have only few Deaf
and LGBT community and they should arrange to Deaf and
LGBT Club in York to make people feel happy and safely.
I prefer to stay in York where I am live. I had struggled to travel
myself because I don’t know around in Manchester or other
cities. That’s unfair for me and Deaf/LGBT community who live
York because I must spend to buy ticket to train or hotel.
Also, I am Deaf and I can’t hear people voice or anything sound.
Train had over-speaking but I don’t understand what does it say
and Manchester is busy city make us feel nervous and lost. If my
friend doesn’t come which mean I will be lonely in stranger place
which I never been there.
3. York doesn’t have Deaf Club or LGBT nightclubs. I want to York
have them because it’s make me feel fair and equal so do Deaf
and LGBT community.
Regular Event and Meeting Group section does not include York
Pride or York LGBT History Month because these only take
place once per year.
York has one LGBT festival at The Knaves mire Racecourse once
a year in June. In June 2019, I went to LGBTQ+ Pride in York
which was great. I think there should be more events in York to
raise awareness of what York has to offer LGBTQ+ people.
York has two LGBTQ+ pubs but they are very small buildings
and not popular, called Thomas’s of York and The Corner Pin.
York doesn’t have ‘nights’, only pubs with little entertainment
because York has a strong historical tourism industry. York is a
place for the elderly, which is suitable for families, middle-aged
and elderly who have lived in York all their lives.
Scene Two
The presenter – I would like to show you the video about the guy
called Wayne Dawson and let’s watch it.
(The video show about Wayne’s interview)
Scene Three
(The video is finish)
The presenter – (Will explain later after filming the interview)
Scene Four
4. The presenter – Now, I would like to show you other video about
I had some Deaf and LBGT friends and I interview them. Please
watch it.
(The video show about Jack interview to 5 people who Deaf and
LGBT to answer Jack’s questions.)
(Jack Towers, Lotte Demeterova, Robert Bishop, Megan Starkey
and Lyla Gentle who sit and get interview.)
Scene Five
(The video is finish)
The presenter – (Will explain later after filming the interview)
Scene Six
The presenter – I would like to show you the video about two
pubs called Thomas’s of York and The Corner Pin. Let’s watch it.
(The video show around Thomas’s of York and The Corner Pin.)
The presenter – Now, you see these pubs. One pub called
Thomas’s of York, that was before it was a famous for most of
LGBT people attended in that pub because there had a Drag
Queen who is singing. There had lots of LGBT people to
celebrate and fun in the pub.
But since Drag Queen had left and people start less and less
attended in Thomas’s of York because they feel not interested.
Then, now Thomas’s of York became not popular anymore
because other cities have lots of Deaf Club and LGBT nightclubs.
The Corner Pin is also LGBT pub but it is not popular. It’s was
like normal and private pub.
5. Also, the guy called Matt Dixon who regular went to Deaf Club
in York. He uploaded his video in website and tell to everybody
about the reason why York Deaf Club had shut down. Let’s
watch it.
(The video show about Matt Dixon and the video finish)
The presenter – Now did you see it? The reason why the
happened to made them feeling not interested anymore. They
decided went to different place in Hull and Leeds to make York
became bored and less entertain.
York still have Deaf Club called Lollipop but the building is too
small and not popular. They used for elderly and children. Some
teenagers people not used it anymore and chose another place to
get entertain.
We want to bring York Deaf Club back because we prefer to stay
our local without buy train or the hotel. That will be more easy
for York community.
Scene Seven
(The presenter wear LGBT big flag and little flag.)
The presenter – Why am I dress these? Because I am gay and I
am proud who I am. I’m Deaf, I am LGBT and I am from York. I
want to York building Deaf Club and LGBT nightclubs because I
want to York welcome to Deaf and LGBT who will new
interested. Maybe there have some Deaf and LGBT people who
also live in York and they want to gay nights in York for more
easy for us to save our money and environment.
I hopefully we can sort out to building new Deaf Club and LGBT
nightclubs in York. We want to welcome to people who live
outside of York to visit in our local. York can make you learn
experience around in York and meet new people. Probably you
6. will be learning about York historian that you might never
heard it. I would love to York might have a lovely Deaf festival.
I want to all guys to stand up and be proud yourself. Please keep
ignoring your haters because they are not worth for you. I want
you force yourself to be happy and confident. If you are struggle
to came out, you can plan go to activities or adventures can
make you feel much better before you can have chatting with
your “trust” friends or “close” your family.
Thank you very much for watching me and be proud yourself
who you are!
The End.
