3. Youth in York
Even though York is mainly an area for middle aged people and
for shopping there is a small population of young people still
hanging around it and do activities in it. Such as game, game has
made a LAN party area where you and your mates can go and
play games there. This area from what I have seen is dominated
by young people with very few older people in it. This is because
you can host parties there and it has tournaments for certain
games which appeal to a younger audience. Also you have
rowntrees park which has two big areas for kids to play, a skate
park, basketball court and a tennis court. This area is also where
most of the younger people go because there is loads of
different things to do there and also a lot of areas to meet up.

4. Skating
Skating can be made into anything if you edit it correctly, with
some edits having a cartoon outline around the skater which
changes and makes the skate clip look more interesting and
colourful. The reason skating could be something that I could do
is because in York there is a skatepark which is filled with skaters
that I have skated with and talked to and it is a little community
within York. This is something I could work with because it
means that the small population of young people in York could
be acknowledged and shown. So making a York art skating edit
could be something that is liked by the younger people because
it is something different.

5. Flooding
Flooding is a big part of York because it can happen so easily with
harsh rain. This topic would be a little harder to do an artsy style
to it because it is a more informative topic rather than a chill
thing to do. So it would need to be shown in a different way to
get the warning/message out rather than a normal informative
video. Young people in York would treat this as a more
educational thing that they need to know about because with
climate change we will experience more rain which can lead to
more floods and dangers as we are being brought up. But I feel
like the younger generation will be interested in it because of
what's happening with the world and the climate change
movement happening, so I think more people will be interested
in it more than ever.

6. Community
There is a strong community for skating or any skate park sports
in York. Rowntrees park and Zoo skate park are the two mains
spots for young people to go and do these sports in a safe
environment. The zoo is ran by people and is the only indoor
skate park in York, whereas Rowntrees park is an outdoor skate
park which is not ran by anyone. The reason I am talking about
these spots are because they both got communities that use
them regularly which shows the interest in the sports and why
making a skateboarding short film, trailer or some kind of video
including it could be a good interest for the younger people of
York. In the york press they say this about the community in York
“We also know that there is a strong and growing community of
people that love participating in skate sports and we want Zoo to
be the destination for all of these users.”

7. Audience
My target audience will be around 15-20 because this is the
main area of young people who are at the skate parks. You do
see a lot of really young people but they wouldn’t understand or
want to watch something like this unless they were really into
skating. Also if I am needing to do an artsy kind of skate video,
this means people are going to have to enjoy the type of editing I
put into it. So I am hoping this age range will enjoy the artsy kind
of editing I am needing to put into it.
