Project proposal title and date:
Flirt! June 2020
Main area of activity:
Film
Rationale:
I made two horror films over the last two years. In the beginning, I had no idea how to use filming
equipment and software for editing. During the last two years, these skills have developed. Now I
will create a comedy silent film because I would like to move on to a different genre. This comedy
film will be my first. I decided to create a comedy silent film because this is easy for me to use
body language and facial expression to understand communication without any dialogue. This is
because I am Deaf and I have excellent body language and facial expressions, as part of my
language which is British Sign Language. So, I like comedy silent films because my characters will
be melodramatic and use slapstick comedy stunts.
Project Concept: 200 words approx.
One thing that is important is that my actors must be good acting because I need melodramatic
and slapstick acting, big seriously over the top. So, I need to find out how I can ask some actors
from performing arts or ask my Deaf friends because of easy communication. I might ask theatre
groups in York. I will research on the web for find information about theatre groups. I love
melodramatic acting because that makes me feel more energetic, with lots of action.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
I will send my comedy film to YouTube, Facebook and maybe InDesign because I want to get
feedback from my audience. Feedback will help me to understand how to improve my filmmaking
in the future.
I will be writing in my development diaries to explain what exactly I am doing. That will help me to
review and develop my research, planning, pre-production and post-production. I need to become
more confident asking some hearing actors because in the future I will need to work with hearing
actors. Also, I want more practice with equipment and software to continue to develop my skills.
