• Tech stuff:
– IE 10 and 11 are supported (NOT 9 or older)
– Firefox is a good choice, especially on campus
– Chrome and Safari also supported
– Works OK on mobile browsers (iPad, etc.), but
you’ll want to do grading, etc., on desktop/laptop
– Blackboard Mobile Learn will roll out in the winter

– Online leads have been working on online/hybrid
courses; conversion deadline: July 31.
– Fall shell creation begins Aug. 4.
– Student account creation begins Aug. 4.
• They may have access to the Student Orientation
course as soon as this (depends on enrollment)
– Fall quarter begins Sept. 2.
– Students will get access to courses on Sept. 2.

• Will go into my sandbox (just an example
course) and use Student Preview to submit
stuff to:
– A discussion
– A test
– An assignment (formerly called a dropbox)
• Then we’ll grade!

• Date settings
– Make sure you give every graded item a due date
– Hover by the item and “chevron to edit”
– Set “Display After” dates to open. Don’t set
“Display Until” dates.
• The calendar
– One calendar per user
– Drag and drop to change due dates

– The Send Email tool in the course menu will allow
students to send from Blackboard
– BUT that email will NOT “arrive” in Blackboard
– You will get email to your MCC account
– You will reply to students’ MCC email accounts
• Everyone must use MCC email
– 100 percent of the time, no exceptions (you can use
other stuff in addition, just not instead of)

• How do I get stuff for my on-campus course?
– Email acgarrison@mccneb.edu
• Identify if you’d like content from the Blackboard online
master (plus which master and the ID for your fall
course) OR …
• If you have AEL content from a previous quarter,
identify the exact course ID (13SP_INFO_1001_9A, for
example) and IDS will copy it into your fall course.
