2. WHAT IS THE PLACEMENT SKILLS
PROGRAM?
The Placement Skills
Program was created in
an effort to offer
students the opportunity
to retest on the
placement test for a
chance to accelerate into
college level courses.
PSP Sessions are offered
FREE-of-charge. As an
added incentive,
students who complete
the program will be able
to re-take the placement
test free-of-charge.

3. WHY IS THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY
FOR STUDENTS?
• Possibility to omit an entire semester (could save
you time and tuition) of a Math or English class if
scores improve to the required level course!
• Improve on areas of weakness!
• Get a free refresher before you enter the semester
in a new class!

4. Steps to complete the Placement Skills Program (PSP)
1. In your campus Student Information Center: WaveNet
Central (WNC)  Register for PSP: sign PSP Agreement
Form and fill out Student Information Sheet
2. In WNC  Complete Initial Assessment – aka Test 1 in
LEL, register for 3 PSP Sessions & obtain a copy of your
Student Information Sheet to bring to each session
3. In SSTC Attend and complete all the PSP Sessions with
SSTC Coaches
4. In WNC  Complete Final Assessment – aka Test 2 in LEL
5. In WNC  Complete PSP Survey and register for a retake
for your placement test
6. Re-take the Placement Test in Testing Center
* Once you have completed all steps in the
PSP, the next step will be to meet with an
advisor in Admissions and register for your
course a.s.a.p.

5. Learning Express Library can be used for:
 Placement Skills Program students
 Students seeking placement prep in an independent study format
 Students needing additional computer practice and resources
 Students looking for refresher skills or tools to prepare before a
test, including GRE and more!
 Career research and exploration
 Adult Learning Center
 And more!

6. To get started with Learning Express Library (LEL):
1. Navigate to:
www.learningexpresshub.com/learningexpresslibrary/
Or Visit the HGTC Library homepage: www.hgtc.edu/library and click
on the Learning Express Library link in the Resources Box.
2. Click Register to create an
account with an email
address as your username.
3. Once you have a LEL
account, write down your
username and password.
4. Click on the LOGIN tab in
the upper right hand corner.

password and click LOGIN

7. Home Tool Bar Tabs
 Home Tab - brings you back to the website home page
 All Centers Tab – shows all available Learning Centers
 My Center Tab – your personal tutorials that you are
completing or plan to complete
 User Guides Link – video tutorials to show you how to utilize
and navigate the website
The SEARCH Tab located at the top allows you search the
website for a particular resource.

8. Learning Center Tool Bar Tabs
 Guidance Tab - offers suggestions on how to get the most
out of the resources on the website
 Resources Tab - offers a way to get to the Learning Centers
Content
 Other Centers - allows you to move from one Learning
Center to another
The Learning Center will be listed at the top of the
page

offer for the placement
test.
 First Click on the Category
“Prepare for College
Placement Exams”
Learning Centers are broken
down into Categories and Sub-
Categories

a Sub-
Category on
the Left hand
side bar.
 A number of
subject
areas are
shown at the
top
 Each subject
area will
have a
number of
practice

11. • Once you “Launch” a test, you can:
 Save that test to “My Center” to be able to access and
finish it later
 Start the test as a Learner, which tells you the answers as
you go
 Or start the test as a Practice, to prepare for the real test
 A set of modules for practicing will be provided at the end of
the Practice Test for you to improve your skills

Once you have completed a
practice test:
 Your results will be given
immediately
 You can view what areas you
need to improve
 Module suggestions are given
at the end of each test
