3. Introduction:
• A test is used to examine someone's knowledge of something to
determine what he or she knows or has learned.
• The process of creating the tests by the teacher stats with the
careful planning of the test, taking into the consideration the
content to be tested. Tests are commonly used in association with
cognitive goals, to review student’s achievement.
4. Planning of Instructions for Test:
One of the most important planning decision is the choice of test.
Test can be standardized (developed by testing company) or Non-
standardized (created by class teacher).
There are Following steps in planning of instruction for Test:
• Create Test Specification and Table of specifications
• Writing Test questions
5. Create the Test Specifications and Table of
Specifications
Test specifications usually include a test description component and
table of specifications. Test description component specifies aspects
of the planned test such as test purpose, overall length.
Table of specification includes listing of major content areas and
number of test items each test should include within each of these
contents.

7. Writing Test Questions
• Time given should be enough for the students to attempt the exam
• Test instructions should be clearly mentioned in the Question
paper
• Be sure that the problem posed is clear and unambiguous
• Be sure that question has one correct or best answer
• Space the question to eliminate overcrowding
• Do not provide clues to the correct answer
8. Responsibilities before the Test
• Provide information to the students of weighting and format of the
test.
• Prepare students about test-taking strategies.
• Practice Exam activities.
• Test items avoid ‘‘leaking’’ information or clues to other items.
• Test items provide clear and complete directions for each test
area.
9. Checking Test Conditions:
The main factor to consider when administering the test are:
• The physical conditions in which the testing takes place.
• If either the physical setting or the test administrator’s
instructions are unsatisfactory, examinees may end up with lower
scores than they deserve.
10. Test Instructions
• As you enter show your Student ID card.
• Make sure your mobile phone is switched off and place it at the front
together with any bags, books, coats etc. Then find your seat.
• You are not permitted to share dictionaries, calculators or any other
materials during the examination.
• Remember that talking is not allowed at any time in the exam hall.
• Keep your eyes on your own paper. Remember, copying is cheating!
• Stop writing immediately when the teacher says it is the end of the
exam.
