3. Romanticism:-
- The World Romanticism is given to the specific
movement started against the classicism.
- A late 18th and early 19th century.
- The romantic period or the age of William
Wordsworth is supposed to begin in 1798 with the
publication of “Lirical Ballads” and end with Victorian
Age.
4. Victorian Age:-
• The Victorian age began in 1837 with the success of
Queen Victoria to the throne of England and ended in
1901 in which she died.
• In her age we find Political consciousness, Social
awareness and Economical tendencies.
• These features influenced and shaped to Literature of
the Victorian age.
5. Different Trends of Romanticism:-
• The Decline of Neo-classical System:-
• Against to tha classical system.
• It was first started in France.
• The Spirit of transformation.
• The Questioning Spirit:-
• Romantic critics were worried for hidden and unseen
questions.
6. • They always try to put something new and creative than
the imitation of Style is Concerned in Literary work.
• Do not enjoy any rules or theories like pope – new
classical.
• Imagination:-
• Every romantic or creative artist know that art is born from
imagination.
• It come from inner feelings.

•Romantic writers consciously or unconsciously
evaluate their personal feelings in literary work.
•The subjective poets are always faithful to their
feeling.
•Does not care for rules and regulations but given free
expression to his emotion.

• Poets used simple language in poetry to suit it’s
simple theme so that common people can understand
the literary work.
• Romantic poets like William Wordsworth, Byron, P.B.
Shelly, Coleridge etc.
• Used metre and poetic diction in their literary work.

• Socialism:-
• Co-related with social political life of England.
• Literature reflects realism,rather than romance.
• They present the social condition of humanity.
• Reform to society.

• Poets and novelists laid emphasis an men and women
they brought out their complexities of life.
• They highlighted sensibility of mandkind.
• They added humanity to nature and art.
• Pessimism:-
• Pessimism, doubt and despair are the major part.
12. • Influence of Science and Education:-
• In this age, the great influence of Science and
Education over the literature.
• Charles Darwin and queen victoria had given the
priority to education.
• Jonh Ruskin, the moral Philosopher has given scientific
thoughts in his art, sir Charles’s “Principle of Geology”
has influenced Victorian novels.
