I choose this game clip because it was something like the game that I wanted to base it from because you
have to get as far as you can and you have to dodge the people on the ground or they will kill you and you
have to touch the squares an they give you some points and they add up.
The location of the game is outdoors and it looks like somewhere where there is some mountains and a few
green places, the angle of the game is in third person and the effects that they have used in the video is that
they have moved the background to show that he is walking along the wall. The lighting that they have used
in this game is that they have made it bright and they have made the effect that it is during the day and it’s a
nice day the costumes that they have used to make this is they have used the costume of Mario the props
that have been used in this game is that they have used mountains and grass in the background and they
have used like a brick effect for what he is walking on an they have also used some squared bricks in the air
for the things that you can jump onto and get points from.
This game makes people want to buy it and play it because it looks really good with the nice weather and it
doesn’t look to hard to get some points and people might just want to play an easier game.
The gameplay convoy's meaning to the audience to show a bit about the game and show the what they
should be expecting from the game and then they would be able to see if they would enjoy it or not
The target audience for Mario is any over the age of 5 because this game was made for anyone who would
like the game.

This product is similar to my own because it is going to be something that I would use to advertise my game
to get it out there and make a lot more people want to buy it because if the poster looks good then the
game should look good, the poster doesn’t really have a location because it is really dark, the angle that has
been used is that he is like on a side jumping. The effect that has been used is that they have put like a
yellow glow behind the text to make it stand out a little bit more, the lighting that has been used is like really
dark colours but some of the things have been made brighter like the person, text and the coins in the
background to make it stand out. The costume that have been used is just the clothes that Mario wears all of
the time. The props that have been used are they coins that are in the background that you have to collect in
the game. The font hat has been used in this poster is like big and bold so you can read it and it stand out a
lot, this appeals to the audience because the text stands out a lot because it is bright bold and it is easy to
read and it make people want to buy it because it is simple and it doesn’t need much to make it good.
The poster convoy's meaning to the audience to get the game advertised to make people want to buy it and
it normally has the main characters on the front and it also has the name of the game it big letters this
advertises the game because it is quick to look at a poster If the things are big and stand out and you would
be able to see it at a distance. This posters target audience was for over 5 year olds and it is there to get the
game out there and advertise it.

The type of image that they have use is like an adventure game that you have to figure out a way to get to
the next level, the location they have used is like somewhere that doesn’t look real, the angle that they have
used is like in third person so you can see the character and you are controlling the person, the effects that
have been used are like some bright lighting to make some of the things stand out more. The costume that
have been used is the clothes that the character is wearing.
The game makes the audience want to buy it and play it because of the colours that have been used because
they are more like neon colours and it makes it look really good and they audience will like the puzzle side of
it because they will have to figure something out to get to the next level. This covey’s meaning to the
audience because they can look at this an see a little bit about the gameplay and it might help them decide if
they would buy this game and it could really help.
The target audience for this game is 5-18years old because it was made for like young teenagers who like to
play pixel game and enjoy them
Existing Product
This game is similar to the game that I want to make because it has got like a thing where you have to score points but you
get them by collecting the rings along the floor, the location that has been used is somewhere near the sea with a few
different islands in the background but they are running on the one Infront and that one has got grass on it and some palm
trees.
The effects that have been used in this game is that they have made an effect that looks like the sun is shinning right onto
them and they have also made like a chequered square for the mud.
The lighting that has been used is like a yellow colour to show like the sun, the costume that have been used is just like the
blue fur around sonic and some red shoes, the props that have been used are palm trees, grass, mud and some flowers the
colours that have been used are browns, blue, green, blue and some white in the clouds.
This appeals to the audience by making the scenery look good so it would make the player more happy and people will like
the way that they have to score points because they have to find some gold rings and go as fast as you can.
This covey’s meaning to the audience because it tells them a little bit about the game and they can see what they like and
how the things work like the score and how much time you have left and how many rings you have collected.
The target audience for this game is 6years old and onwards because anyone who like to play pixel games would love to play
this game.
Animation and sound
The Animation that they use in Mario is pixel stop motion animation so they have to move
Mario a little bit at a time and then they have to add a new frame and do the same every time
until they have finished the animation so it take a lot of time to make, they also have to move
all of the scores and the numbers at the same time as animating the characters and everything
at the same time. They do this because then you can control a lot more things and it can be
more precise when they move it in really small moves because it makes you feel like it is moving
when it goes faster.
The sounds that they use in the game are like little noises for the jumping and when they kill the
enemies there are sounds for that and they also use a nice soundtrack in the background that
can help you can have more fun and get more involved in the game. They make this kind of
background noise it gives you something to listen to without just sitting there in silence with
nothing to listen to so it makes it more fun to play.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
• The common features that I have research is the background of games because I think that the
games are better when they have some good surrounding. I have also looked at Mario games to see
what they like putting in there games and they like to make the background look nice like really blue
sky and clouds that look like they are moving and they also like to put like enemies across the floor
and you have to jump on their heads to kill them. I also looked at games like sonic to see what they
like to put in there games and they have loads of these rings that you can go around collecting to
see how many you can get and they also put enemies in front of you and you can ether shooting
past them really fast or you can kill them and they also make some nice background because they
make it blue with a few clouds but they put some palm trees there to show that nearly all of the
time it is a nice place on that level. I intend to put some of these ideas into my own game because I
like how they have made the background blue and sunny so I was thinking out making my game look
sunny and really nice but I will be putting some of my own things in there as well. I could also put
some sounds what they use in my own game because they make sound effects for them jumping
and collecting things so I will be putting some of them in my own work, also like they style that they
use for there animation because they make the clouds move at the same time as the characts and
the enemies are moving and I think that it works really well and I really like it.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your own work?
– The aspects of my research that I will include within my work will be some of the
background that look like are set in the sun on a nice day and I will also be using
some of the sound effects that they use because I think that they work really well for
when the characters are jumping, eating and the walking and I also think that the
background music is really good too and I think I will find something similar.

Research
Evaluation
Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and
weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• The strengths of the product research is that I could research game that have already been made and get
ideas to make my own game
• The weakness of the product research is that you might not be able to find exactly what you want to find
so it made it a little bit harder to find some things
• If I had more time in my research I would have looked at some sounds of what people put in their games
like Mario and sonic and really looked into it and I would also have looked at more characters from games
because I didn’t look at that many.
• I was fairly confident in my research because I sort of had an idea on what I was going to research
because on my initial plans I had already looked at some things a mario game and made some of my own
ideas
– Questionnaires
• The strengths of the questionnaires is that I was able to find out what people wanted out of the ideas
that I had made and I was able to put all of the ideas together and now I can make the game because I
know what people want now
• The weakness of the questionnaire is that you might get some silly answers of some people who might
find it funny and then it wont count because is not good.
– Interviews
• The strengths of the interviews is that you can get more into depth with what people want
in your game and you can ask them what game they liked to play and I can maybe base
some of the parts of the game to the games that they have liked to play.
• The weakness of the interviews is that they might give you some bad answers and then you
cant work of them because they are silly answers
Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
– I got a good response from people because they had some good ideas from
my interview because now I know what kind of games some of the people like
to play and the surveys were good and a lot of people completed it so I could
have a good idea on what my audience would like to see in my game.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
– I distributed my survey by Microsoft teams and I also sent them to people that
I new would have complete it.
– An advantage of the survey was that you can get an I did what your audience
wanted to see in my game
– The disadvantage of the survey is that it take a bit of time to get the results
because people have to read your messages and then answer them and that
takes some time

2. Research (FMP) (1).pptx

  • 2. Existing Product I choose this game clip because it was something like the game that I wanted to base it from because you have to get as far as you can and you have to dodge the people on the ground or they will kill you and you have to touch the squares an they give you some points and they add up. The location of the game is outdoors and it looks like somewhere where there is some mountains and a few green places, the angle of the game is in third person and the effects that they have used in the video is that they have moved the background to show that he is walking along the wall. The lighting that they have used in this game is that they have made it bright and they have made the effect that it is during the day and it’s a nice day the costumes that they have used to make this is they have used the costume of Mario the props that have been used in this game is that they have used mountains and grass in the background and they have used like a brick effect for what he is walking on an they have also used some squared bricks in the air for the things that you can jump onto and get points from. This game makes people want to buy it and play it because it looks really good with the nice weather and it doesn’t look to hard to get some points and people might just want to play an easier game. The gameplay convoy's meaning to the audience to show a bit about the game and show the what they should be expecting from the game and then they would be able to see if they would enjoy it or not The target audience for Mario is any over the age of 5 because this game was made for anyone who would like the game.
  • 3. Existing Product This product is similar to my own because it is going to be something that I would use to advertise my game to get it out there and make a lot more people want to buy it because if the poster looks good then the game should look good, the poster doesn’t really have a location because it is really dark, the angle that has been used is that he is like on a side jumping. The effect that has been used is that they have put like a yellow glow behind the text to make it stand out a little bit more, the lighting that has been used is like really dark colours but some of the things have been made brighter like the person, text and the coins in the background to make it stand out. The costume that have been used is just the clothes that Mario wears all of the time. The props that have been used are they coins that are in the background that you have to collect in the game. The font hat has been used in this poster is like big and bold so you can read it and it stand out a lot, this appeals to the audience because the text stands out a lot because it is bright bold and it is easy to read and it make people want to buy it because it is simple and it doesn’t need much to make it good. The poster convoy's meaning to the audience to get the game advertised to make people want to buy it and it normally has the main characters on the front and it also has the name of the game it big letters this advertises the game because it is quick to look at a poster If the things are big and stand out and you would be able to see it at a distance. This posters target audience was for over 5 year olds and it is there to get the game out there and advertise it.
  • 4. Existing Product The type of image that they have use is like an adventure game that you have to figure out a way to get to the next level, the location they have used is like somewhere that doesn’t look real, the angle that they have used is like in third person so you can see the character and you are controlling the person, the effects that have been used are like some bright lighting to make some of the things stand out more. The costume that have been used is the clothes that the character is wearing. The game makes the audience want to buy it and play it because of the colours that have been used because they are more like neon colours and it makes it look really good and they audience will like the puzzle side of it because they will have to figure something out to get to the next level. This covey’s meaning to the audience because they can look at this an see a little bit about the gameplay and it might help them decide if they would buy this game and it could really help. The target audience for this game is 5-18years old because it was made for like young teenagers who like to play pixel game and enjoy them
  • 5. Existing Product This game is similar to the game that I want to make because it has got like a thing where you have to score points but you get them by collecting the rings along the floor, the location that has been used is somewhere near the sea with a few different islands in the background but they are running on the one Infront and that one has got grass on it and some palm trees. The effects that have been used in this game is that they have made an effect that looks like the sun is shinning right onto them and they have also made like a chequered square for the mud. The lighting that has been used is like a yellow colour to show like the sun, the costume that have been used is just like the blue fur around sonic and some red shoes, the props that have been used are palm trees, grass, mud and some flowers the colours that have been used are browns, blue, green, blue and some white in the clouds. This appeals to the audience by making the scenery look good so it would make the player more happy and people will like the way that they have to score points because they have to find some gold rings and go as fast as you can. This covey’s meaning to the audience because it tells them a little bit about the game and they can see what they like and how the things work like the score and how much time you have left and how many rings you have collected. The target audience for this game is 6years old and onwards because anyone who like to play pixel games would love to play this game.
  • 6. Animation and sound The Animation that they use in Mario is pixel stop motion animation so they have to move Mario a little bit at a time and then they have to add a new frame and do the same every time until they have finished the animation so it take a lot of time to make, they also have to move all of the scores and the numbers at the same time as animating the characters and everything at the same time. They do this because then you can control a lot more things and it can be more precise when they move it in really small moves because it makes you feel like it is moving when it goes faster. The sounds that they use in the game are like little noises for the jumping and when they kill the enemies there are sounds for that and they also use a nice soundtrack in the background that can help you can have more fun and get more involved in the game. They make this kind of background noise it gives you something to listen to without just sitting there in silence with nothing to listen to so it makes it more fun to play.
  • 7. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? • The common features that I have research is the background of games because I think that the games are better when they have some good surrounding. I have also looked at Mario games to see what they like putting in there games and they like to make the background look nice like really blue sky and clouds that look like they are moving and they also like to put like enemies across the floor and you have to jump on their heads to kill them. I also looked at games like sonic to see what they like to put in there games and they have loads of these rings that you can go around collecting to see how many you can get and they also put enemies in front of you and you can ether shooting past them really fast or you can kill them and they also make some nice background because they make it blue with a few clouds but they put some palm trees there to show that nearly all of the time it is a nice place on that level. I intend to put some of these ideas into my own game because I like how they have made the background blue and sunny so I was thinking out making my game look sunny and really nice but I will be putting some of my own things in there as well. I could also put some sounds what they use in my own game because they make sound effects for them jumping and collecting things so I will be putting some of them in my own work, also like they style that they use for there animation because they make the clouds move at the same time as the characts and the enemies are moving and I think that it works really well and I really like it. • What aspects of the research will you include within your own work? – The aspects of my research that I will include within my work will be some of the background that look like are set in the sun on a nice day and I will also be using some of the sound effects that they use because I think that they work really well for when the characters are jumping, eating and the walking and I also think that the background music is really good too and I think I will find something similar.

  • 27. Research Evaluation – What sort of a response did you get? – I got a good response from people because they had some good ideas from my interview because now I know what kind of games some of the people like to play and the surveys were good and a lot of people completed it so I could have a good idea on what my audience would like to see in my game. – How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage – I distributed my survey by Microsoft teams and I also sent them to people that I new would have complete it. – An advantage of the survey was that you can get an I did what your audience wanted to see in my game – The disadvantage of the survey is that it take a bit of time to get the results because people have to read your messages and then answer them and that takes some time
