tools used to store and deliver

Types of Media:
Print Media
What is Print Media?
Print Media is a type of media used
in mass communication in the form
of printed publications.
The traditional form of print media
involves ink and paper.
Types of Print Media
a. Books
b. Newspaper
c. Magazine
d. Poster
e. Brochure
BOOK
• Defined as “a set of printed
sheets of paper that are held
together inside a cover”
• Intended to inform like
reference books or to entertain
such as novels
NEWSPAPER
• Refers to as “a document
published regularly, consisting
of news reports, articles,
photographs, and
advertisements that are printed
on large sheets of paper folded
together”
MAGAZINE
•Defined as “a periodical
publication containing
articles and illustrations,
typically covering a
particular subject or area of
interest”
POSTER
•It is a bill or placard for
posting, which is often
placed in a public place
•It makes use of photos or
graphics to convey a
message
BROCHURE
•Defined as “a small, thin
book or magazine that
usually has many pictures
and information about a
product, or a place, etc.”
CHARACTERISTICS OF
PRINT MEDIA
CHARACTERISTICS:
1. A proponent of literacy – print media is essentially
written media. One must be able to read to
patronize print.
2. Portable – it is the most portable platform of media.
Its size and weight allows people to carry it
everywhere
CHARACTERISTICS:
3. Independent form of media – unlike other types of
media, print does not require separate medium or
technology to transmit or receive information
4. Structure – correct grammar and proper sentence
construction is a must. The structure is given emphasis
in print media.

• It is a tool that uses voice,
sound, and music.
• Radio has been further
developed to aid in
communication of the
military.

• KDKA owned by the
Westinghouse Electric
Corporation of Pittsburg was
the first to use radio for
entertainment.

•American Telephone and
Telegraph Company (AT&T)
was the first to broadcast
paid advertisements on its
stations.

• In 1922, there were 60,000
households in the United
States with radios; by 1929,
the number had topped 10
million.

• The earliest notable
development was that of
German inventor Paul Nipko,
where he was able to
successfully transmit an image
in 1884.

• It can be considered as the
most powerful medium in the
mass communication because
of its complete features. It
offers both sight and sound

users can upload, view, and

•A blog site that enables users
to post multimedia contents
CONVERGENCE OF
MEDIA
What is Media Convergence?
•Media Convergence happens
when different media sources join
together
TELERADIO
•It is a program that combines the visual
aspect of television with AM or news
radio.
•Filming of teleradio happens in radio
booths and simultaneously broadcasted
on radio stations, television channels, and
even online
STREAM MEDIA
•It provides access to those who have
limited or no access to television and
radio but is connected online.

  • 8. What is Print Media? Print Media is a type of media used in mass communication in the form of printed publications. The traditional form of print media involves ink and paper.

  • 11. BOOK • Defined as “a set of printed sheets of paper that are held together inside a cover” • Intended to inform like reference books or to entertain such as novels
  • 12. NEWSPAPER • Refers to as “a document published regularly, consisting of news reports, articles, photographs, and advertisements that are printed on large sheets of paper folded together”
  • 13. MAGAZINE •Defined as “a periodical publication containing articles and illustrations, typically covering a particular subject or area of interest”
  • 14. POSTER •It is a bill or placard for posting, which is often placed in a public place •It makes use of photos or graphics to convey a message
  • 15. BROCHURE •Defined as “a small, thin book or magazine that usually has many pictures and information about a product, or a place, etc.”
  • 17. CHARACTERISTICS: 1. A proponent of literacy – print media is essentially written media. One must be able to read to patronize print. 2. Portable – it is the most portable platform of media. Its size and weight allows people to carry it everywhere
  • 18. CHARACTERISTICS: 3. Independent form of media – unlike other types of media, print does not require separate medium or technology to transmit or receive information 4. Structure – correct grammar and proper sentence construction is a must. The structure is given emphasis in print media.
