What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
Target Audience
 Our target audience was males aged 18-25. This was because this is the group that
predominately listen to this type of music. We wanted our video to be fun and relate
to our audiences life. This is why 18-25 was our target audience because this age
group is the group that goes out the most and our video would relate to them.
 Before we created our music video we designed a questionnaire to get some idea of
what our target audience will expect to see in a music video.
 Once we had finished editing the video we put it onto YouTube. By doing this we
could see how popular it was with people and they could also leave comments about
the video.
 We feel we were able to get reliable feedback because we didn’t only ask our friends
but other people so we could get different opinions from a varied age group. Also as
our target audience will be on social networking sites we also were able to promote
our video on them for our target audience to see, this was also a great way to
advertise for free.
Questionnaire
 We created a questionnaire before we began
to make our video so we could get a clear
understanding of what different people
thought and see what the majority of people
thought and liked.
 We gave the questionnaire to 30 people both
within and some outside our target audience.
We asked a few people who wouldn’t be our
target audience because we wanted to get
their view and see if it was the same as or
similar to our target audience.
 Our findings helped us plan our video and we
picked some main things out that people
would expect to see and added them as best
we could but also with our own little twist.
E.g. Voyeurism was a main one that most
people would expect to see. So in our video
because it was all boys in it we had one in a
mankini, this also gave an edge to our video
and made it stand out from other mainstream
videos.
Positive Comments
 When we put our video onto social network sites and YouTube we get lots
of comments from people who really enjoyed our video.
 We had great comments such as:
“Well done guys fantastic video”
“Great video, loved the humour”
“Really well made, great ideas!”
 These amazing comments really underlined all the hard work and all the risks we
took such as adding in humour really paid off and our audience liked it. These
positive comments really proved to us that all our research into the different types of
music and the information we got from our questionnaire really helped when coming
up with our ideas and by us listening to these meant our target audience could really
connect with the video and understand what it is about. We really focused on the
codes and conventions and added our own twist so the video wouldn’t be boring or
the same as others.
 We could see there was room for improvement and some negative comments
showed us this.
 “The scene on the stairs let you down”
 “Should have shown them in the club as well”
 These comments were really only some peoples opinions on the video but we knew
there would be room for improvement but because of the weather we couldn’t film
when we wanted to so had limited time to film in the sunlight.
Could they see this video on TV?
Could you see our video on T.V?
Yes
No
Maybe
This pie chart shows the amount of people we interviewed who really thought our video
had a strong chance of being on a music channel such as, MTV or 4 music. The results
we got back were far better then we ever expected. The majority of people said yes
they could see it being on T.V as a top music video. This really shows to us that our
target audience really liked what we had come up with and shows how well we stuck to
the codes and conventions for our target audience.
Overall
 Overall our audience feedback throughout our time creating the music
video was extremely useful for us. It allowed us to compare our
questionnaire to the codes and conventions to see what our audience
would really expect to see and this meant we could add in our own twist
into our video which made it very enjoyable for our audience, looking at
our post feedback.
 The feedback we got after we had completed the project was great. It
showed us how well our video was made and proved to us that doing
intensive research into not only our genre but also other similar genres
can really help you to create a great idea. The negative comments were
good for us because we could see that it wasn’t all perfect although we
didn’t receive many which is a great achievement for us considering we
didn’t have long to film because of the weather.
