Q3 :
What have you learned from your audience feedback ?
I believe to be able to construct a good music video you would have to get the feedback from the
audience first. This is because they will be the ones that will be receiving the end product and making
revenue for you.
To begin with the first research we conducted was our PITCH , we done this in class with 10 girls . We
has o pitch our ideas and has to mention everything that was going to be included in our music video.
Such as the narrative , locations the props the theme. Furthermore i had the ensure that they would be
interested in the story of the music video and the meaning behind it but from there response everything
seemed perfect.
However one thing i would have changed if i had the chance to do this video again was to add a male
protagonist as it will create more audience and will be different to the eyes of the audience as males in
media are not represented as vulnerable or sad they are represented as more rude and rough.
I believe that audience research is one of the most important research for a music video as i will help you
identify what needs to be changed or adjusted and what you could of done to make it better. Due to them
being the consumers of your product you need to create something very outstanding and different for it to
be a feeling point.
After we conducted our pitch we decided to go around sixth form and ask different students which were
the same age as our target audience to tell us what they think about our idea. From there response we
got different song choices and different themes but they all liked the idea of us using the binary
oppositions of rich and poor.
Finally we conducted more research by looking at the
statistics form secondary source of data and found that the
indie genre which is our choose genre was one of the least
popular genres in the list. For this reason we choose the
indie genre to create something that has not yet been
created as most popular music videos are in the sam style.
Finally by showing our production in the showcase and
getting audience feedback at the end helped us some of
the small mistakes that we have made. As i said in the
video above if i had to change anything of my music video
it would be to make the narrative more clear .
Furthermore the favourite aspect of our video for the
audience is the layering of the shots and how we put the
shots of the two girls together to make it one which shows
that they are both going through the same thing. They also
included that they liked us using everyday objects such as
cigarettes to represent the girl going through trouble as it
increases realism and also it shows that she is stressed as
our audience said that cigarettes are associated with
stress in there generation.
Finally i believe audience feedback is vital when creating a
good product because they will allow you change what has
went wrong before making it public to the rest of the
audience and to make it more powerful we used two girls
from the same age group as our targeted audience.
Also we found that if we made the start of the music video
more interesting it would have got the attention from the
audience faster as we include the best shots in the middle
of the song as it is more fast paced. But overall they
enjoyed the music video as some of them could relate to it.
