The Education Director is responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating educational programs for youth ages 6 to 18. This includes supervising instructors, developing program calendars, ensuring program quality and safety standards are met, and preparing reports on program outcomes. The Director will work with approximately $38,700 budget to coordinate academic, art, and technology programs that meet organizational goals and member interests. A bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant nonprofit experience are required for this salaried-exempt position.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision is responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating of a broad
range of educational programs for youth between the ages of 6 and 18. Provides leadership and
supervision to program staff and program volunteers within core area of responsibility: Academic
Success. Ensures quality program delivery that meets defined outcomes and reflects club
members’ interest and organizational goals. Completes accurate and timely reports. Monitors
and controls program expenditures. Monitors and insures member safety, equipment
maintenance and cleanliness of program areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plans, develops, evaluates and implements education and technology programs,
activities and services that prepare youth for success. Surveys members’ interest in
programs, tracks member program participation, and program outcomes; works with
Executive Director to plan and implement changes to improve results.
• Supervises part-time youth development professionals within core area of Academic
Success. i.e. Learning Center Instructor, Computer Instructor, Art Instructor, etc.
Develops performance objectives, monitors performance and provides performance
feedback. Responsible for completing performance reviews.
• Develops and posts weekly and monthly/quarterly program education and technology
calendar. Promotes and markets education and technology programs to club members
via meetings, announcements, bulletin boards, flyers, mailing, posted schedules, etc.
• Ensures designated and daily year-round and summer education and technology
programs meet stated objectives. Ensures programs are gender inclusive and are
sensitive to cultural diversity.
• Plans and implements procedures to measure and report outcomes; prepares programs’
reports. Communicates with club staff, members and partner agencies to insure
understanding of programs. Plans and implements recognition of club members for
program participation and achievements.
• Communicates and enforces organization’s policies, procedures and standards with
regard to upkeep, usage and maintenance of program areas and equipment and insures
bulletin boards are up-to-date and attractive.

• Plans and takes action to ensure program areas are safe, attractive, well-maintained, and
meet health and safety standards. Observes members and corrects unsafe behaviors,
enforces safety rules and communicates safety guidelines.
• Keeps facility/equipment in program areas in good repair and clean; reports needs to
supervisor. Ensures emergency procedures are communicated, implemented and
followed.
• Takes actions required to prevent accidents; responds to injury and signs of illness and
reports member, staff, and/or volunteer accidents/incidents/injuries to supervisor;
completes appropriate reports.
• Provides staff with orientation, training and required for effective program delivery,
reporting and outcomes.
• Monitors technology program area and provides constructive feedback to staff with
regard to program delivery and member guidance and discipline. Plans and implements
opportunities to recognize technology program staff.
• Seeks guidance from Executive Director when handling crisis situations; takes action to
resolve conflicts, disputes and/or concerns of staff, club members, or volunteers.
Recommends and supports training of technology program staff.
• Maintains and increases membership and attendance through effective programming and
works toward meeting club membership goals.
• Orders program supplies in a cost efficient manner to insure sufficient supplies required
to run education and technology programs.
• Updates and maintains technology skills and uses those skills and management
information systems to communicate effectively and to obtain and track information.
• Works with Executive Director to develop education and technology programs budget.
• Approves program expenditures to authorized level; ensures expenditures considered
costs and best value. Plans and controls hours worked by technology program staff.
• Seeks to optimize use of donated and free resources. Manages club when all other
fulltime staff are absent. Provides Executive Director appropriate information for program
reports; helps with press releases.
• All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college or university in a field related
to guidance, recreation, education, and/or social science. Education and experience in the fields
of counseling and guidance, personnel management, business administration, program
development, public relations are preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years work experience in a nonprofit youth serving organization
at a professional level where skills, knowledge, experience and competency in required key roles
and skills/knowledge acquired.
Skills/Knowledge Required:
• Demonstrated ability to creatively plan, coordinate, organize, implement and evaluate
quality youth programs directly and through collaborations and contractors.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments/organizations to
deliver quality programs to club members and potential members.
• Demonstrated ability to train, orient and recognize staff, volunteers and outside
resources. Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, in presentations to an
audience, and electronically.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and resolve problems. Ability to control expenses and
creatively use resources. Ability to persuasively promote programs and deliver same.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Club
members, volunteers, contractors and outside community. P.C. Literate, preferably with
expertise using MS Office, graphics programs, Photoshop, illustrator and publisher.
ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Daily contact with club staff, club members, outside organizations and individuals to plan,
coordinate and deliver arts programs. Travel to special events and field trips required. Must be
able to work daily afternoon/evening hours. Occasional weekend and work required to
accomplish objectives.

This position is classified as Salaried-Exempt status. As defined by the Fair Labor
