2. 1) All weather roads: All weather road’s are
those which are negotiable during all
weather, except at major river crossings
where interruption to traffic is permissible
up to a certain extent.
2) Fair weather roads: The road pavement
should be negotiable during all weather
roads which are called fair weather roads.

4. 1) National highway
 NH are main highways running through the
length and breath of India, connecting
major ports, foreign highways, Capitals of
large state and large industrial and tourist
center including roads required for
strategic movements for the defense of
India.

6. SH are arterial roads of state connecting up
with the nationals of adjacent state district
head quarter and important cities within the
state .

8. MDR are important roads within a district
serving areas of production and markets and
connecting those with each other.
The MDR has lower speed and geometric
design specification then NH/SH.

10. ODR are roads serving rural areas of
production and providing them with outlet
to market centers , taluka head quarter or
other main roads.
These are of lower design specification then
MDR.
