1. A good front cover should follow the traditional
conventions of a magazine for example the main
cover model should be staring directly into the
camera and the text used on the front should have
bold text so it stands out to the customer.
Traditionally magazines are in coloured due to if
it had no colour they do not sell as well because
they come across boring. There are 3-5 fonts &
colours used because if too many are used the
magazine will become messy looking and
unattractive to possible buyers.
2. A good contents page consists of 50% images
where a main image feature which relates to the
main article as well as 4 small images also attract
customers. The contents should also follow the
conventions of a magazine with the images
having text underneath explaining what is
happening the image and why it is there. The
structure of the contents should contain 1-3
columns which is usually divided into categories.
Another convention is having the name of the
magazine, issue date and the word ‘contents’.
3. A good double page spread consists of two
pages that work to together to create one unit
and when the reader looks at the magazine
they will be drawn to the outer part of the
spread so these areas are aimed to have the
most impact. The headline has to stand out so it
is written in a bigger font to rest of the text and
should represent what the article is about so it
makes the reader more intrigued so they are
more likely to read it.
