The images in the magazine represent young adults and were inspired by magazines like ELLE and Harpers Bazaar that target a similar audience. A young adult model was chosen because young customers would be more likely to buy a magazine featuring a model in their age range. The cover image focuses on the model's upper body, which looks clean and allows for detail. A plain white background and simple outfit were chosen for the model to allow flexibility in the design.

Magevaluation Question 2-Presantation
1. Question 2
A: How do the images you have used in your magazine
represent particular social groups?
B: How do the images you have obtained reflect
professional practice?
2. How do the images you have used in your magazine represent particular social groups?
I took inspiration for Complex mag from magazines such as Harpers Bazaar and ELLE. Not only did I
like these magazines myself but the target audience for these two are similar to mine. The images
are what gave me the inspiration for my model, styling, poses and way I would present the images,
with a few changes and ideas that included. I like how the front cover images focused on the upper
part of the body, I think it looks a lot more professional and clean. You can also get a lot of detail
from having a model close up rather then a full body shot
3. I chose a young adult model for Complex magazine. I
believe choosing a model of this age would be good fo
this genre and style of magazine. Even though the
magazine is targeted towards young adults plus, most
young customers would only buy a magazine with a
model of there age range displayed within it.
Like previously said I took inspiration for my images and
mainly my cover images from magazines such as Elle
and Harpers Bazaar, as you can see on in the image on
the left, I used only the upper body of the model, I
find that this just makes the cover overall alot more
clean looking. Taking only the upped body, so focusing
a lot of the image on the face also allows you to get
better detail on the photo. I think if the image was full
body, it would be difficult to make look right on the
cover. I decided to dress the model simple, wearing a
plain knit jumper I believe this looks mature and can
be easily styled with.
I didn't choose to use a scenery, I wanted a white or plain
background so that I could easily alter the background,
I thought this would be easier for my magazine genre. I
didn't want something packed and over colourful, it
was aiming for simplicity.
4. • My shoot was quite simple, I had easy access to a person who was willing to take
up the opportunity of being a model for the magazine. I think i could of definitely
improved my photos, I could of planned out exactly what I would of wanted
rather than having an idea and going with what I had this way the images would of
turned out in much better quality and I could of worked with them in Photoshop
and on the designs alot easier.
• If I had the opportunity to take the photos again I would have used a different
camera, the images would be a lot better quality by far and photo shopping the
images would of become alot easier.
• I used Photoshop to adjust some of my images, I didn’t majorly alter each image I
just used it to cut out misplaced hair, change contrasting and brightness and
changing the background colours. I used this to make the images look a bit more
clean cut and high quality.
