I will be photographing a close friend as my model. I have communicated with her about the shoot and she understands what is required. While I have some country-themed props, I likely won't use them and instead focus on neutral colors, black, white and grey in the backgrounds, clothing and makeup to fit the country genre. Natural lighting will be used and the shoot will take place indoors due to worsening weather. No backdrops will be used, just plain painted walls in neutral colors for contrast. My model understands what to prepare in terms of costume and makeup.
2. What emotional impact do you want your photography do have upon the
reader? How?
I want my reader to be intrigued and for the image to also create a story from the
dominant picture. By my model having direct address within the image this will help
the reader to feel more intact with the model and the meaning of the sell lines. By
addressing the audience it will engage reader, model interaction through photography.
Also for more relatable images I’m going to have my models expression alternate and
might even have her pull a more relaxed face so the audience can look at the model
as just an average person.
QUESTION 1
3. What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph?
QUESTION 2
I am going to be using a very close friend of mine to be
a model as I feel she will be able to put her own opinion
into creating some really effective images. My model
also knows what she needs to bring/prepare ready for
the photo shoot.
I messaged my model using iMessage to see if she
would be able to take part in my practice photo shoot
for my front cover, contents and double page spread, in
which she replied that she was happy to help me and
asked if she needed to prepare for the photo shoot i.e.
costume etc. in which i gave her a brief example of
what would fit the criteria for my magazines image.
4. What props will you need?
I’m not planning on using any prop although I do have some musical instrumets that
relate to the country genre incase I feel that my sub images could be use the props
effectively.
QUESTION 3
5. How are you going to emphasise colour?
Due to my chosen genre being country I feel I will use very complimentry neutral
colours to signify the genre using only some uses of bright colour in appropriate
places such as through clothing makeup and props. I am planning on using
contrasting colours such as plain black, white, grey backgrounds with the main object
within the image being able to draw the attention of the image.
QUESTION 4
6. Have you briefed your personnel/models?
QUESTION 5
I have been in touch with my model and
informed her with all information and
expectations ahead of time for my photo
shoot. I started by telling my model brief
information which can be seen in the
image, but I also contacted her again to let
her know why the photo shoot is taking
place and how she can prepare for the
photo shoot.
7. What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?
I am planning on using natural lighting for my photo shoot as I feel it will create a
unique look against my magazine therefore differentiating my magazine from any
competition of mine, hopefully I can do this by taking a different perspective on
lighting and not using low or high key lighting. The use of natural lighting will
hopefully give an ambient glow, creating a youthful look on my model the lighting
should also be able to clearly highlight the makeup on my model.
QUESTION 6
8. Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
I think my photo shoot will end up taking place indoors as the weather is gradually
getting worse in the north east and could then potentially ruin not only my main
source of lighting but also the overall effect of my images. I wont be using a
backdrop put plain painted walls such as grey, black and white, this will help with
contrasting of the clothing compared to the background.
