3. Introduction:-
The endocrine gland in fishes are pituitary gland, internal
tissue, chromaffin tissue, corpuscles of stannous, is lets of
Langerhans, thyroid glands, gastro-intestinal glands, peneal
glands and urophysis.
4. Objectives:-
Endocrine system of fresh water fishes usually control long term activities of
target organs and also physiological processes such as digestion,
metabolisms, growth, development and reproduction.
5. Description:-
Endocrine glands are found in fresh water fishes such as
Pituitary Gland or Hypophysis-
Pituitary glands derived from two different components
• Adeno hypophysis
• Neuro hypophysis
Thyroid Glands –
Arises as a median evagination from the floor of pharynx.
Adrenal Glands-
The two components of adrenal glands are
• Cortex
• Medulla
Corpuscles or Stannious
• The corpuscles of stannious are special endocrine organs in the kidney in fish and responsible
or maintaining
