TE Connectivity - Harrisburg, PA
Support two data centers for a multinational company. This includes the management of 250
cabinets of equipment to include 950 servers and associated storage devices, 265 switches, and 350
other assorted network devices. Our data centers also include automated tape libraries, and assorted
enterprise disk solutions.
Installation, removal, and troubleshooting of all data center server and network equipment and
connectivity. The drafting of detailed Step Plans using MSWord to define detailed instructions for all
installations and decommissions to include rack/U space designation, guidelines for power
installation, and all fiber and copper network connectivity. This includes the use of Putty to configure
all switch ports and ensure connectivity to the network.
Capacity planning and asset management to include DCIM administration. Use of the iTRACS DCIM
tool to manage all assets and plan for all installs, and equipment refreshes. Use of StructureWare
software to ensure efficient use of power throughout the environment, and its monitoring tools to
safeguard the security of the Data Center.
Liaison with Colocation site personnel to submit work orders to have tasks completed at our Disaster
Recovery Data Center.
Use of Remedy ticketing system for all work requests and updates to the work orders.
Media management of all offsite and onsite media utilizing CommVault backup software and vendor
online portal. This includes the management of 24,000+ offsite tapes and the daily transfer of media
between sites. Tracking tape pool inventories of available media and all ordering to ensure no lapse
in the daily backup operation. Use of Excel for all tracking and daily reporting.
Site level MS SharePoint administration for our team site. Create and maintain document libraries
and control site wide access, permissions, and security.
Procedural documentation for all data center processes per predetermined company policy formats.
Vendor management to include the day to day interaction with vendors to ensure quality and timely
service for ourselves and our internal customers.
I also assist other teams when needed and worked on special projects where I could be of help. The
latest project entails archive backup of legacy systems through the use of EMC’s Info Archive product.
I also assisted in the development of our new department website.
2. Senior Computer Operator Jun 2003 to Aug 2003
American Water Works - Hershey, PA
Operation of four IBM AS400 systems and all related IT equipment to perform the assigned duties for
every shift in regards to processing of the daily batch schedule. Daily processing of water bills for
customers in multiple states.
Timely processing of all cash and billing applications to include but not limited to ACH transactions for
online billing, and direct debits. The generation of all Sewer Authority media, and the maintaining of
all job scheduling activities.
Operation of IBM 4000 printing systems to produce customer focused billing documentation and
distribution of all printed output. We achieved the printing of 1,000,000+ water bills per month.
The documentation of all hardware and software problems to ensure fast and efficient solutions,
daily shift turnover, communication between different departments through phone and e-mail
contact, and daily backups to ensure system integrity.
