This document outlines principles for high quality assessment that should guide teachers. It states assessments should be based on clear learning targets and use balanced, appropriate methods relevant to what is being measured. Assessment instruments should also be valid in measuring their intended objectives and yield reliable results. Additionally, assessments should be fair to all students, lead to positive consequences, be practical and efficient, and adhere to ethical practices.
