2. Name
S The name of my magazine is going to be BEDROCK as it has
a play on words as it has the genre that I am doing in it’s name.
It is a short, simple but effective name due to it being easy to
pronounce and fits in with the genre. The word bedrock by itself
means at bottom beneath metal etc. which can relate to the
rock genre as people that used to take part in this type of music
in previous years were seen as the underdogs of society. I can
also use this names in many ways as you see in the positioning
statement I’m able to find a suitable slogan for my magazine.
3. Positioning Statement
S My positioning statement will be “Rock Until You Drop” which is
yet again another simple catchy phrase that will fit in perfectly
with the name of my magazine. It relates to it because it tells
the person to keep on rocking until they drop like a rock. It’s
short and easy to pronounce which will stick peoples minds
when they look at my magazine. The word “rock” in it will also
stand out and tell people that the genre of the magazine is
rock.
4. Price
S The price of my magazine is going to be £1.50. It will be this
price because In my opinion it isn’t too low and isn’t too high
compared to other magazines. If the magazine was any less
than this, a lot of the profit would shrink and the magazines
quality wouldn’t be as good. If it were any higher people
wouldn’t consider buying the magazine as they could find other
means of getting information that could be gotten through the
magazine. It works with my target audience as I planned to
create a magazine with a price that is available to all social
classes in order to spread it.
5. Aims
S One of the main aims for my magazine is too give my target
audience a great piece of quality information that is worth it’s
asking price. The greater the quality the greater the profit and
that is another main aim which I will discuss.
S Profit is another aim as it determines whether the magazine will
continue because if there isn't enough money being generated
through this magazine source then there is no point in
continuing as this is a realistic problem that any manufacturer
would face.
6. Distribution
S Supermarkets – I would sell this magazine in supermarkets as
they get a lot of customers with a heavy demand for pretty
much anything such as magazines. It would boost sales as it
opens it up to something different than just a newsagents. This
would also help reach my target audience as some people of
higher class may or may not go to the newsagents.
S Newsagents – This is a typical place to purchase and to sell
magazines along with sweets etc. This must be in my
distribution in order to reach out to my target audience because
the lower or working class may use this store in order to
purchase magazines
7. Regular Content
S Reviews: These will be reviews of rock bands that have
released new albums or if a big event pop up then it will be
reviewed .
S New Albums: If a new album comes out from a rock band like
AC DC then it will be displayed on the front page etc. To keep
the reader up to date with what new songs are being made.
S News: Stories about bands that are going around or stories on
events that are taking place about tours. Readers will find this
interesting as they may have not read about it before.
S Tours: If a tour has been announced it will be advertised on the
front page in order to tell the reader some of the big news.
8. Frequency Of Publication
S It will be published once every month because in order to get
good quality news that is worth reading about events must take
place in order to get the stories. This would also help with my
target audience as they will receive decent quality news and
won’t have to spend £1.50 each week to get news that may not
be at a decent quality. In my opinion it will also give the readers
a thing to look forward too because if it was released every so
often they may get bored but this way it will be savored and
enjoyed as they get up to date with the latest rock news. It also
gives a longer period of time to sell the magazine creating an
even larger profit.
