2. Sample images
This sample image is simple and
powerful. They are all sat on a bench all
doing a similar pose. This shows the
unanimity of this need and shows how
tight they are as one.
This particular sample image is cool and different. The
band shows all there different styles of clothing, it shows
that they are comfortable in there on style of clothes. This
therefore catches the audiences eyes and draws them in.
It intrigues the reader to want to find out about their band.
This band shows of their style to and a
bit of their personality. These are what
parents want as role models for their
children, because they show the
essence of individuality and not being
afraid of what people think. This would
be what I would like as a cover photo
of a band that my target market and
connect with and identify with.
3. Genre of music
I have chosen two genres of music to use in my music magazine. These are: Pop and
Dance. I have chosen these genres because these two were the most popular chose of
music that I gathered from my the questionnaire I carried out, I think it is important to listen
to the research collected because the majority has told us what they want thus I can create
the best and magazine I can, therefore making it as the readers want, further more selling
more. I have also chosen these genres because the two are easy to interconnect together,
and create a fun magazine with two similar genres of music appealing to two music markets
, creating a bigger audience thus trying to give them what they want. Also in the
questionnaire result I gathered that there favourite artist are mostly from the pop industry for
example; Jessie j and Justin Bieber, this their fore gives me an indication in to what artist I
should feature in my magazine.
Pop is the best selling genre of music worldwide. This means that there is
still a huge market fro pop magazines. There are already many pop
magazines that exist, the bigger magazine for example Q magazine, and
Billboard are the most well known and have the biggest readership and
have the biggest market size of pop magazines.
4. The working Title idea for the magazines:
What I want from the title and logo:
I want the title of the magazine to be short and catchy. The
colour plus the wording of the title needs to grab the readers eye
and make them want to read the magazine. Their fore making
the title only a few letters or words will be ideal, making the title
to complicated might confuse the readers. I also want to
incorporate a logo for the magazine this will make the magazine
more memorable and will give of a more professional feel, thus
this will make the reader think for the next time they are buying
a magazine and they want this one they will not forget the name
and thus will not loose us customers.
Title;
Name of the magazine?
UNLEASHED
The reason for this Name is that it isWhat I want
from the title and logo. Catchy and cool. It is a name
people will not forget and its easy for people to say.
The word unleashed gives the feeling that people will
find out something if they read the magazine. This will
intrigue the reader to buy the magazine.
5. Publication pattern
I have chosen to publish my magazine monthly because the responses I gathered from the
questionnaire I asked were that a month they spend on average between £3-£8, this their
fore means that the customers I am aiming for and that have answered the questionnaire
are willing to spend money on music, thus shows they are interested in music and they may
be willing to spend money on a magazine each month. I have chosen not to do this weekly
because it is to frequent , and I want to make the magazine often so the readers are excited
to go and buy it, however I want to give a sort of special addition feel to the magazine. This
also will benefit my target market age which is 15-23, because they will have time to save
up their money and furthermore will more likely be able to purchase the magazine. Also
making it monthly I will promote a subscription to the magazine and give a special deal to
those who purchase this with a free limited addition magazine. This will be every 6 months
this their fore entices the customers to purchase a subscription, therefore giving it every 6
months this will mean that the customers are more likely to buy it for 6 months or more to
get this magazine, thus creating more profit. Also by doing it every 6 months and making
that only the customers with subscription receive the limited addition copy, will most likely
make them subscribe longer. Also having an option to subscribe , this will create more
customers because people forget to buy it every month so making a subscription it is
already paid for in advanced and means that they wont forget buying it every month
because it will always come without them thinking about it.
6. Reader Profile
The sex of my reader I'm would like to focus on the female
sex. The reason being is because as my questionnaire
suggest the sex most interested in pop is females. By making
it mostly based on the female audience this means I will have
a clear plan of how to appeal to them for example what
colour scheme to use. I contemplated doing a magazine for
both sexes however I felt it would be to confusing and I would
end up leaning more to one gender than the other, so by
doing one sex this will make me focus on one audience
making the best magazine I can for that certain sex.
The age range i will be targeting is aged from
16- 20. The reason for this is because my
audience research suggest that is the age i
should focus on because they were of the
majority. By setting a target age helps me
produce a magazine that is age appropriate
thus making the writing more developed with
jokes that the target market would understand
and find amusing. It also will make sure that
my readers will be interested and will help me
to pick the right topics to right about.
I would like the readers to be able to read more
elaborate vocabulary. By making it more intelligent
the readers are not just learning about artists and
music they are learning new words, and develop a
wider vocabulary. By having advanced vocabulary
this will appeal to another sort of market by making
it fun and also you learn something there is no
magazine on the market that bring these things
together subtly. This therefore gives the magazine a
unique selling point. Making it stand out from the
other magazines.
The magazine will be affordable however
the main focus will be providing a high
quality product for a good price. The
price will be more expensive than other
magazines on the market , this therefore
means that the people buying my
magazine my readers will have to come
from a family wealthy background, This
therefore makes the marines more
desirable and more wanted by the public.
The readers I will be focusing on will be
invested in music, this will make it easier for
the readers to understand. By focusing on
these people it will be easier for me to write
for, them because they will already have a
pre-existing knowledge of music.
7. Magazine Style and attitudes
My magazines genre is pop/dance this therefore means that my magazine will be fun
upbeat and interesting. The magazine will not be serious thus will be the opposite and be
humorous and will not take its self to serious. The content of the magazine will be funny
interviews and will be all the gossip people want in a magazine. I will be focusing on the
female sex because they are the majority of the people who buy pop magazines and will
want the gossip and will want a bit of silly fun. The colour scheme and design will be
bright and colourful, however I want to make it different to other pop music magazines out
there that have really bright colours that stand out to much, I will make it more subtle and
easier to read and navigate around. This will therefore stand out from the crowed and
also will appeal to the older female that are my target market. Making it more classy and
more “grown up” will create customers that of the older age and because I am using more
elaborate language this fits with my target market.
8. Cover Price
The cover price of my magazine is £4.00. The reason for this price is
because the people in my questionnaire said that they would spend on
average between £3-£8 a month. This therefore means making it this price
is the middle price. I also decided by making it this price I would like to
make my magazine more of a higher market and for the people of the
upper class. By making it quite a high price and not making it cheap this
means that for the people of the working class with less money than my
target audience cannot afford it therefore making the product more
desirable. This is because they will see the richer people having it and will
want it themselves. This further more means by making it expensive I will
have to make the content and the whole magazine that of a high quality,
and making it good value for money. Because my publication pattern is
monthly it means that the people without the money will be able to save up
thus means they will be able to effort it. This further more appeals to
another audience that will buy the magazine making it more sellable and
creating a bigger audience buying the magazine gathering more
customers.
