What type of magazine is it? From the front cover what kinds of articles are
going to be inside?
 This is a music magazine, it is dedicated to the music culture. In this magazine it
is more likely to have hip hop related articles as Barbadian singer Rihanna is on
the front cover. Rihanna is known to be important figure in the hip hop music
industry.

What is the title of the magazine? Why do think it has been given that title?
Who is the audience for this magazine?
 The title of the magazine is ‘Rolling Stones’. Even though part of the title is
covered by the image of Rihanna, readers are aware it is a Rolling stone magazine,
as it is a popular magazine. The title ‘Rolling Stones’ is unique and different, this
already connects with their readers because the audience is teenagers young
adults who enjoy music and the creativity of different artists. The magazine is
targeted at both male and females. The audience is ore likely to be young adults.
 The magazine has no slogan.

The central image is using
direct mode of address.
This tell us that it wants a more
personalised relationship with the
reader. Her stare and positioning is
very sultry, as if seducing the reader
into buying the magazine.

the artist may be in a new
relationship or have a new
obsession.
The overall message that the
artist is giving, is less to do with
her being a music artist but
more as a sex appeal. Her

 The design of the title block is similar
to newspaper being that it is in
‘Baskerville’ font and in bright red. This
tells us that the magazine is filled with
answers and information needed by
their readers. The title also relates to
the phrase “A rolling stone gathers no
moss.” This implies that the magazine
is evolving with more music news,
gossip and trends.

What do the “Puffs” suggest will be inside the magazine?
Billy Joe is American singer and lead
vocalist of ‘Green Day’
• MGMT – American psychedelic rock band
• JIM JAMES - American vocalist, guitarist,
producer, and primary songwriter of the rock
band My Morning Jacket.
The puffs suggest that there will interviewed
response with big celebrities in the music
industry. Also suggest there will insight on
possibly new songs made by the artists.

What are colours used? Do you find them attractive? What are the font
used?
 The text is all in either black or white
which is normal for a magazine cover. The
anchorage text is in a bigger font relating
the central image, “Rihanna” is in
‘Chancery’ font, this is attractive as it
creates a more feminine look.
 The cover page does not use a large
range of colour, but the colours that are
used are neutral yet still create an subtle
sultry atmosphere.

 This is celebrity gossip and fashion magazine. From the front cover there will articles based on
the latest fashion trends, make up and beauty tips and responses from an interview with Justin
Bieber. Justin Bieber is hip hop artist is very popular in the music industry and teenage
heartthrob.
 There is no slogan for this magazine.

Who is the audience for this magazine?
 The title of the magazine is ‘Teen Vogue’. It was given this title because it was more youthful
version of ‘Vogue’. Whereas as ‘Vogue’ is targeted at young adults, ‘Teen Vogue’ is targeted
at teenage girls (aged 13 – 17). Which results to Justin Bieber being the central image. Young
females adore “hot” celebrities, fashion and gossip which is exactly what Teen Vogue is
offering on the front cover.

The central image is using
direct mode of address.
This tells us that the magazine wants a intimate
relationship with the reader. The magazine
feeling more personal with give the reader
more reason to buy it. Especially because
teenage girls in particular love Justin, so it will
feel to them as if he’s connecting to them.
There are no

The anchorage text says ”JUSTIN’S CRAZY
YEAR”. This implies that the celebrity has
gone through some problems and issues
with his career.
The overall message that the artist is
giving is to portray himself as vulnerable.
This links with the anchorage text and
central image making the artist seem as
a victim of some sort.

one source. This makes
the reader feel that
without reading the
article they’re missing out.
The ’+’ symbol is an abbreviation of the
word ’plus’. The term plus indicates, that
there is more content than usual. This
will make the reader feel that they’re are
receiving more for their money, and they
will have more reason t purchase the
magazine
What does the design of the title block tell you about the magazine?
The title is divided in two different
fonts. The ‘teen’ section consists of
a bold font in lower case in the
colour light pink (bold font). The
combination of colour, font size and
use of lower case enforces that the
magazine is targeted at teenage
females. Whereas the ‘vogue’
section matches the original
template of the ‘vogue’ magazine.
This could be seen as promotion for
their original magazine.

that there will be all
basic tenets of teen
magazines (fashion,
trends hair & beauty
etc.)
What colours are used? Do you find them attractive?
 The colour mostly used in the
magazine cover is pink, which is
seen as a feminine colours. The
central image consists of neutral
colours, which contrast with the
bright colours of the text. This
would be seen as attractive to the
“stereotypical” teenage girl.

 It a cookery magazine. This is made oblivious by Jamie Oliver being central image.
Jamie Oliver is a British celebrity chef and restauranteur, he is mostly known for his
British cuisine. The front cover indicates that the articles will be based on new
recipes and cooking methods.

 The title of the magazine is “Jamie”. It was given this title because the recipes and
cooking advice is all from the chef Jamie Oliver.
 The slogan states “making you a better cook”, this assures readers that all the aid
they need for cooking will be supplied in the magazine.

 The target audience for this magazine varies from young to mature adults. This
could be for people just learning how to cook that are in university or it could be
for parents who want new recipes for their household. Or simply for those who
enjoy to cook.
