Survey Analysis
Music Magazine
41.63% of the results were those aged between
17-25 suggesting that mainly teenagers and
younger adults are more interested in Music
Magazines.
However because most of the data research was
found through acquaintance these
statistics are not very varied.
My main aim of target audience is going to be
Teenagers and Young Adults.
The main gender that took the survey was female with 23.66%,
where as males took up 43.90%
My Music Magazine will have no specific targeted
gender as i will mainly focus on age.
However to create my magazine non gender specified i
will use neutral colours such as Gold or Silver, and
stay away from stereotypical views for individual
genders.
Pop and Rock are the two main popular genre’s in this
survey.
I was previously focused on specifically making a rock
based magazine, However i plan to incorporate a pop
outlook to the magazine to enlarge my targeted audience.
Majority of the people that took the survey tend to use a
electronic app or stream online to listen to music. This mainly
reflects the ‘generation of technology’, As my target audience is
focused on the young generation i will incorporate a aspect of
technology in my magazine,
In another question i asked ‘what do you wish magazines had
more of’, With the use of iTunes or Spotify i could focus on the
targeted audience that answered for wanting freebies or
incorporate contests and competitions.
Most respondents answered no when asked
weather or not they purchased a magazine.
This may be because the magazines are a high
price. Also specific audiences may not buy
magazines as it may not interests them.
Therefore i will interview my targeted
audience to see what aspect of the magazine
they would want to see be expanded on. As
well as have my prices low to a more
affordable price.
Articles and Interviews according to the survey are the
most popular aspect of the magazine to the audience
at 25.64% and 28.21%.
Therefore i will focus on a article on a local band and
interview for the double page spread. As gossip also
has a high percentage of 20.51% i will use buzzwords
and ads to advertise certain gossip to capture the
audiences attention.
This question was based on generalising the audience and understand what pulls the public to
music. Most respondents answered with ‘relaxing’ or ‘puts me in a better mood’. I want to
incorporate this into my magazine, I will do this by getting the people i interview to visually
explain what music would look like to them through use of colours or through describing what
they see, and fit the general image into my magazine, incorporating a colour scheme that will
attract my targeted audience.

would prefer to have the magazine
printed. Publicity wise i would
publicise my magazine online,
However will have printed vision of
the magazine. This way there will
be a larger audience that could
purchase the magazine also if i
were to print i would have a
limited audience purchasing the
magazine.
What do you wish magazines had more of?
The main response to this question was gossip, However i have decided that
i will use Buzzwords to grab the attention of the reader on the front cover.
On the contents page there will be sectioned text boxes for tour dates in
local areas, as well as Contests and competitions and also frequent album reviews.
With the Double page spread, this will be dedicated to a focus on a local
band with both a article and interview. Because many of the respondents answered
with “more pictures” the band will have one image across three collums and the
article underneath leaving the second page for interview answers.
Since my magazine is specified towards teenagers and
younger adults i will need to make my magazine
affordable for the targeted audience. Therefore will keep
my magazine at a price of 1.99
In conclusion, with the audience research i have decided to create
a pop/rock magazine with the target audience focused on
teenagers and young adults from the age of 15-25, With no gender
specification. I will do this by beginning to interview individuals
and ask what their opinion is about current magazines and
incorporate what the general answers are to the my research.
