The primary audience here would be the 21-30 and 31 or older category.These are the people who most
likely would be familiar with either the original StarWars or the prequels.The Secondary audience would be
the 6-10 and 11-20 category.These people wouldn’t be as familiar with the StarWars films as they were not
born when the films were made.The majority of these responses were made by the 11-20 category which
probably means that the other answers would be affected by this in that newer characters may relate to
them more than older ones.
Here we can see that most of my responses were answered by males which would affect the answers in that
they would most likely relate more to the male characters than the females would.This would affect my
answers so the male characters would probably have more answers than the female characters due to more
males answering my questionnaire.
For this question, I allowed the participants to choose more than one character as I felt that more than one
character would appeal to the audience.This means that there will be more answers for each character than
there are participants who responded.
From these responses we can see that the most appealing characters were Finn, Chewbacca and Han Solo.The
reason why Finn may be the most popular character is due to the introduction of a first BAME character within
StarWars who has a dominant lead role.This shows how open minded the audience of our generation is and
how culturally diverse we are since 1977.
We can also see from the results that participants liked the iconic characters such as, Chewie, Han Solo and
Princess Leia.This is because fans, especially the primary audience, who know the personality of these
characters.
• From all the 31 responses saying ‘yes’ we can say that the trailer definitely appealed to the audience and
persuaded them to watch the film. We can also see that it was the iconic scenes and the actions scenes
within the trailer especially appealed to the audience. Scenes such as the revelation of Han Solo
would’ve appealed to the primary audience due to his role in the originals which would get them to
watch the movie.The action scenes would’ve appealed mainly to the secondary audience which
would’ve persuaded them to go and watch the movie.The introduction of the characters didn't really
appeal to the audience as much as the other scenes.This could be because of the limited time we had to
meet this characters so they didn’t know much about them.
From the earlier question, we can see that the majority of people answering this questionnaire were aged 11-20.
This means that they would have a limited spending power due to them being in full time education or having just a
part time job.The majority of people answered either under £5 or £6-£30.This shows that either the participants
don’t have a lot of money to spend on merchandise or they just aren’t that big of a fan of StarWars. Some people
answered saying they would spend £101 – £150.This probably would’ve been the primary audience who are in full
time employment or are die hard StarWars fans.
From the responses we can see that the majority of people would not go to a StarWars event.This may be because the
majority of my participants just don’t have the time to go or aren’t big enough fans of StarWars. Both audiences would
be interested in going.The primary audience would be more enthusiastic about it whereas the secondary audience
would probably have more free time to go to these events. However they may not have the money to travel or get
tickets for the events due to them still being in full time education whereas the primary audience would have more
spending power therefore are more likely to attend.
