2. From looking at these results, the majority of my audience who answered
the questionnaire were males and this is suggesting that the sci-fi genre is
more appealable to the male audience than the female audience. The
primary audience is the older generation which would age from around 35-
55 as they are would have seen the old Star Wars films and may have really
enjoyed them and therefore Lucas film will be targeting them again to
retain that audience. The secondary audience would be aged from 5-25 and
would be the ones being targeted in the new films.
3. From these results it shows that Rey and Finn were mainly the
predominant characters that people liked in the film. Most
likely this being because young female fans look unto Rey and
admire her and want to be like her. Also young male fans can
look up to Finn and want to be like him. According to blumer
and katz, the use of personal relationships has been used here
and it means that they can look up to these people and see
themselves in their shoes and gives them a role model to
aspire to just like Rey and Finn. The third favourite character
Kylo Ren was most likely very popular also because of the
power he posses and how similar he is to DarthVader and he
was much like by old StarWars fans.
4. From these results it shows that roughly around 62% of people
would purchase merchandise which is just over half which shows
how people are more than willing to spend more than just the
standard box office ticket price on the film. However, even though
people are willing to purchase merchandise around 40% of them
wouldn’t spend more than £5 and also 38% of them would only
spend £6-£50 on merchandise which is good for Lucas film as it
means that they can still male additional revenue but it is not
massive amount of money. However, there will be a small majority
of people who will be willing to spend lots of money on Star Wars
products as they love the film so much.
5. From these results it shows how the majority of people
would not go to a star wars event which suggests that
there isn’t that many super fans out there and that
they wouldn’t go to these events and this is backed up
by my previous question on how much money people
would spend on merchandise and it isn’t significant
amounts and this links in with why not that many
people are willing to go to the events are they are very
expensive to attend.

7. Throughout the film there a variety of different scenes that would appeal to the younger
generation due to some of the new characters introduced into the film. A clear example would
be the character of Rey interesting a young girl as in one of the action scenes in the desert
during the beginning of the film, Rey’s personality is shown quickly and this would potentially
make the young girl want to be like Rey. Another example could possibly be a man from the
primary target over the age of 40 seeing Han solo and Princess Leia sharing a very close
moment. This would be appealing to someone like this as this fan would have most likely seen
them when they where growing up in previous StarWars films. This would make them
remember some of the previous StarWars films as they would've possibly seen similar scenes
during their childhood and may encourage them to watch some of the previous films from the
StarWars franchise.
