The document discusses several legal and copyright issues that may impact Chris Reynolds' planned film project. It addresses that Chris will own the copyright to the filmed footage as the creator. Anyone wanting to use the footage would need permission. Chris will also need permission from any actors, especially minors, to appear in the film. The film's studio logo is owned by Chris as its creator. Sound effects and musical scores will come from royalty-free sources to avoid copyright issues. The film's content, such as depictions of violence, could impact the age rating assigned by the British Board of Film Classification and consequently the target audience. The film will be uploaded to an online platform that has guidelines it must meet. Copyright laws protect original creative works

Copyright
The law regarding copyrightprotects the use of a composed piece of work e.g.
films, books, music. Due to these copyrightprotection laws, if someone
wanted to use a piece of work which isn’t theirs, they would have to ask for
permission or pay the composer to use that piece of work. This will affect my
film as I will not be able to useany clips or background music which is
protected therefore I will have to use royalty free music.
Intellectual Property
The government definition: Having the right type of intellectual
property protection helps you to stop people stealing or copying:
the names of your products or brands
your inventions
the design or look of your products
things you write, make or produce
https://www.gov.uk/intellectual-property-an-overview
There are 4 types of intellectual property rights:
Trade Secrets
Trademarks
Copyright
Patent
Slander
This is the action of making a false statement in order to defame ones
reputation. I will ensureduring the scriptproduction that there will be no
defamation which will causeoffenseto any group or individual.
Filming Permission
The only location I will need permission for filming would be in the school
classroomwhich has been agreed with the teacher. I will not need permission
for filming in my house or in the forest.

Royalties
Royalties are payments to the producer of a piece of work from someonewho
intended to use that work. Royalties protect the owner of intellectual property.
If property is sold, the producer may receive a percentage of the revenue
generated fromthat piece of work from the buyer. If my film was really
successful, TV companies can pay me to broadcastmy film in royalty fees.
Violence, Offensive Language/Behaviour
There won’tbe any offensivelanguage in my film, although a murder is heavily
implied with the scene of a lifeless body which could causesome upset. Due to
this there will be an age restriction placed on my film.
Public Interest
Public interest is about whatmatters to everyonein society. Itis anything that
affects the rights, health or finances of the general public. However, this will
not affect my film as it will not include matters which are of concern to public
interest.
Performance Rights
These are the rights to performmusic live publicly. This also includes any
televised or radio broadcasts of live performances. To do this the broadcaster
would have to pay the composer an agreed payment in order to broadcastthe
performance. This will not be affecting my film as all my music will be pre-
recorded and taken fromroyalty free websites.
