Beyond the EU: DORA and NIS 2 Directive's Global Impact
Analysing my results
1. Audience research
I asked a series of questions about Star Wars The Force Awakens to a range of ages of
people and different genders, these are my findings.
This was the first question that I asked on my survey, the
results show that out of the 20 people who answered 60%
were male and 40%, this shows that more males than
females watch Star Wars as only people who have seen the
Force Awakens answered the questionnaire. This is
probably more than there would have been previously which is probably to do with the
introduction of the new Character Rey, this would make more females watch the film as it
was the first leading female role in Star Wars which will interest them to want to see the
film. The fact that there is probably more male people watching the film than females it will
mean that they need to focus more of the advertising on the males so that they get the
most of the advertising and make the most money.
The next question I asked was to find out about the
age of the people watching, from what I found most
people that I asked were between the age of 16-25
or 26-40. This includes both the primary and
secondary audiences which the film appealed to
both in the trailer and the full film with different
conventions. For example the primary audience
would be appealed to by iconic scenes and old characters like Han Solo whereas the
secondary audience would be more interested in action scenes like spaceship fights. This
would help the producers because they will know that they need to appeal to the different
age groups in order to get the most people watching and enjoying the film. Since there are
older people who have seen the filmit is clear that they would have more spending money
to buy merchandise as they would likely still work and earn money
Out of the people who watched the film70%
said they either really enjoy the films or just
enjoyed them. This will help the producers as
they will know if what they are making people
enjoy. If the people don’t enjoy watching Star
Wars films then they would know that they are
doing something wrong but since it is so
2. successful it is clear that people enjoy watching these type of films.
This question shows that most people said that
the trailer in some way encouraged them to see
the full filmas 85% of the people that I asked said
this. This shows that the trailer that they released
was successful and had good conventions to
appeal to both the primary and secondary
audiences. This helps the producers to know for
next time whether they are putting the right
things in the trailer to get people to go and see the
film which will result in more profit for them.
This question shows that the audience’s
favourite two characters within the film are Rey
and Finn. These are two new characters which
shows that new characters appeal to the
audience. This would help the producers as they
would know to add new people on the next film
and they would also know who to focus the
merchandise that they sell on to sell the most.
This shows that the main reason the
audience watched the film was for
diversion/entertainment. This would be
the people aged between 16-25 and the
people aged between 26-40 who would
want to escape their everyday jobs/school
work and want diversion to not think
about this.
3. This final question shows that most people who have seen the
film watched the filmat the cinema. This would be to help
them achieve diversion as it will give them something to do
but it will also be because the filmwas released at the cinema
first and people would want to see the film as soon as
possible.
I think that aspects of the film that would appeal to the target audience are the action
scenes and sentinel moments. The action scenes would more appeal to the secondary
audience whereas the sentinel moments would be more suited to the primary audience. In
the film an example of this is at the end when Luke Skywalker is seen which would intrigue
the primary audience and the fight scene between Finn and Kylo Ren would intrigue the
secondary audience. This is also done within the trailer so that the people watching the
trailer would want to watch the film.
In conclusion the main things that I have learnt are that my most popular age groups are
between 16-25 and 26-40, this is linked to the favourite character question as if they are a
different age then they would be more likely to prefer a different character. They would also
be more likely to buy merchandise as they would be of a working age so they would have
more disposable income to spend. If I was making the film I would use this information to
target the merchandise at certain people so I would make the most profit possible.
