Difficulty level: Medium
Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. Put students into groups and ask them to list out as many places in their city as
possible.
2. Tell them to name the places orally. Write only the names which are new (in
English) to most students.
3. Do some pronunciation and concept checking of meaning with the new words.
4. Now ask them to stay in the same groups and choose 5 places which they adore
most and start writing definitions/explanation for the places.
5. Go round the class to help with language. Make sure that their definitions are
grammatically correct and easy to understand.
6. When the groups have finished, ask them to take turns to read their
definitions/explanations for other groups to guess.
7. Repeat the same process until all definitions are read out or until you realise the
boredom among the students.
