What to take on our class trip?: Students work in groups to discuss and agree on
things which they should take on their class trip.

Materials needed: None
Time: 15 mins
Procedure:
1. After exercise 2 on page 59, put the students in groups and ask them to imagine
that their class is going to take a trip to a pagoda in a remote countryside.
2. Ask them to work in groups to decide 10 things they should take with. Remind them
they can use things on page 59 or add their own ideas.
3. Tell them that they can either use the following structures:
- We’ll need ............; I’d like to take .................. because ...............
- We’d better .........................
- It’s a good idea to take ..................
- We won’t need ........................
- It’s not necessary to take .............................
4. Go round the class and encourage them to talk freely with different reasons. Also
take notes of some common errors.
5. Invite each group to tell the class the list they have agreed on.
6. Ask the class to vote for the best list.
