3. Allah starts this Surah with an Oath.
When Allah does this, it means the topic is very important.
He is swearing by TIME.
Time is the biggest blessing we have.
But most people don’t take advantage of it.
Most people waste so much time. Hey
whatcha
doin’?
Oh just
passing
time...
I swear by time
Ayah
#1:
4. Asr is the last part of the day, just before the sun sets.
It’s called Asr, because Asr means to squeeze.
Like squeezing the last few minutes of the day.
Allah is telling us that time is running out.
People are just enjoying life and not
realizing that time is passing by.
This Surah is meant to help us “wake up”
5. When a student is taking a timed test, they don’t
waste time in answering the questions.
Humans are in LOSS
When an adult has to be at work at a specific
time they don’t waste time in the morning.
When a Muslim realizes that we have a set number of days on this
Earth, they will rush to do good.
They will rush to better themselves, and the World around them.
Every minute that passes by is a minute
subtracted from our lives.
If we don’t feel a sense of urgency, we
will never rush to do good.
Ayah #2:
6. #3. EXCEPT THOSE WHO BELIEVED:
Belief is both intellectual, AND
spiritual. You can believe in Allah’s
existence in your minds, but your
heart must also accept Allah’s words.
Your body must also obey his rules.
AND DID GOOD DEEDS:
Their deeds outlived them.
Those that benefited from them will
witness for them on the Day of Judgment.
They may be dead but are still GAINING.
AND ADVISED ONE ANOTHER
TO THE TRUTH: Supporting one
another in doing good is a responsibility
on us. We can’t sugarcoat the truth. We
owe each other good advice.
AND ADVISED ONE ANOTHER
w/ PATIENCE:
1. Give advice patiently.
2. Help others find the strength to be
patient w/the difficulties of life and
the temptations we may face.
All humans are in
loss EXCEPT for
those who exhibit
the following
4:
Allah used the plural form because
we all need each other.
We need support, so we don’t lose
our identity.
We need to create a safe
environment around us.
