1. Question 1: in what
ways does your media
product use, develop
or challenge forms
and conventions of
real media products?
2. My media product of a music magazine shows my
development of how it challenges forms of real
magazine on my front cover my contents page and my
double page spread. I did in depth research on what
music is popular, what ages tend to by magazines and
what magazines are most popular then I started to think
of what my genre was going to be for my magazine.
3. My front cover
For my magazine I decided to chose rock and indie
as I found out that in todays music teens and young
adults are into music that they would describe as
different.
Here is the design for my front cover of my music
magazine. To decide the look of my magazine I
looked at various other magazines with a similar
genre to see what I could do, such as Karreng,
NME and Q I noticed a common trend with these
magazines was that the mast head was always red
or there was a theme of red across the front cover
and I wanted to show this in work to show the
target audience the genre of the magazine.
I think the photograph I took for the front cover of
the magazine works well, as a lot of rock music and
indie music is to state rebellion and as I have
chosen my model to smoke In the picture that he is
rebelling from the norms. I also made sure that the
models eyes were looking directly at the camera so
it looks like he is looking at the audience of the
magazine.
4. Contents page
Here is my contents page as you can see it
continues the design and colors as the front
cover. I looked at different content pages
from different magazines to get an idea of
what content would be in the magazine. I
chose to have four pictures in my front
cover the main one of matt watts being the
biggest as he is the exclusive part to the
issue of the magazine I chose a different
photo to the front cover to show that I
understand the codes and conventions of
music magazines.
At the bottom of the page I added a contest
as on the front cover there is a puff and
plug on competitions, so this then links in
with the front cover.
5. Double page spread
Here I have my double page
spread here I have used my
image to be in front of the name
of the artist as I feel as though if
he is a famous artist the audience
will already know he is I also had
my artist not looking at the
camera when taking the photo as
I wanted this to be different to
most double page spreads it
makes him look mysterious.
When looking at other double
page spread articles I noticed that
there are photo’s to do with the
artists somewhere on the double
page spread so that is what I did I
also included some pull quotes to
show that I understand the codes
and conventions of a music
magazine I also kept the color
scheme the same through out my
magazines as well as some fonts.
