Evaluation Question 7
1. 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression
from it to the full product?
I feel thatI have learnta lotsince myfirstmagazine.Inmy latestmagazine Ihave usedthe Guttenberg
designprincipletohelpwiththe lookof mymagazine, tomake itlookmore professional thanthe
original magazine thatIdidat the start of the year. I have alsolookedat the colourscheme of my music
magazine,usingcolourssuchasblacksand whites, withhintsof redcolourtohelpmake important
informationstandout.Thisisdifferentthanmycollege magazinedesignwhichusedthe colourscheme
of blues,whites,andblackswhere eachcolourwasusedequally,whichdidn’tmake itlookas
professional.
I alsobelievethatIhave improvedmyphotographyskillswiththe newermagazine withthe college
magazine.Iusedmultiplephotosonthe frontcover,disregardingthe Guttenbergdesignprinciple,
whichmade the magazine lookclutter,andimportantinformationwaslost.Whereas,inthe music
magazine Ihave usedone phototo coverthe entire page tomake informationsurroundingthe image
clear.Alsoinmy original magazine,Iusednatural lighting,aswell asartificiallightingfrominside the
college, thismade the imagescontrastandlookunprofessional, andI alsotookimageswitha
backgroundof the environment. Onmymusicmagazine Itookthe imagesona white backdrop, with
professionallighting,usinglightboxes.Thisallowedme toeditthe photosmore easilyontomy
magazine. IusedPhotoshop onmycollege magazinetoeditthe imagesthatI had taken;I erasedthe
backgroundfromthe images,sothat wouldfitwell onmymagazine.Although,onmymusicmagazine,I
usedPhotoshop tocolourcorrect myimages,alteringaspectssuchasexposure,contrast,aswell as,
RGB colourcurves, tomake the highlightsof myimage standout, andthe shadowsdarker.
