ABSTRACT
Communication will be ineffective if students communicate without used
correct and various vocabulary to communicate. Therefore, effective communication
helps students learning English successful. Students not only learn huge of vocabulary
but also memorize them. This study, the researcher aimed to administer action
research process to develop the ability to memorize English vocabulary by using online
game of 26 elementary school students at Mahasarakham University Demonstration
School (Elementary), Muang District, Mahasarakham. This study utilized three cycles.
Co-researchers were two pre-service teachers and 26 elementary school students.
Three lesson plans were used as an instrument to collect data. The duration of the
lesson plans implementation was six weeks. The data of the study were obtained from
qualitative data collection, namely observation and interview. Furthermore, the data
were analyzed by triangulation method and showed by qualitative description.
The finding revealed that the first cycle showed that the students cannot
answer questions in game and the vocabulary on website is different from vocabulary
that students have learned. Besides, the lack of English vocabulary caused them to
misunderstand. The second cycle revealed that students do not understand some of
vocabularies on online game. Moreover, some of vocabularies on the website are
difficult for elementary students. The final cycle showed that many students
understand meaning of vocabularies. However, the students were enthusiastic to do
the activities and remember many English vocabularies.
In conclusion, using online game in class could develop the ability to memorize
English vocabulary by using online game. Moreover, online game could also motivate
students to remember English vocabularies, learn enthusiastically, and enjoy activities.
