13. 1- syllable adjectives: add - er to the adjective
- My brother is much shorter

2- syllable adjectives ending in -y:
change the - y to - ier
- She's looking happier today.

14. Other 2-syllable adjectives: use more with the unchanged
adjective

20. There are several reasons why the mountain lands
are so empty, and many of the people so poor.
1. The high of altitude
Some mountain people live in places where the
lower ground is between 11,483 – 14,764 feet (3,500-
4,500 m.) This is higher than many of the mountain
peaks in Europe. People from lowlands who come here
suffer from breathlessness, dizziness and sickness. This
is because there is much less oxygen

Very few mountain areas
have naturally fertile soils. When
