1) The document reflects on the author's experience with peer teaching online classes over 7 days.
2) On the first day, the author was unable to attend due to an exam, but observed subsequent classes led by peers. They provided feedback on peers' teaching styles and abilities.
3) Over the course of the week, the author gained experience and confidence in teaching online classes individually, with their first class not going as smoothly due to technical difficulties.
4) By the end of the week, the author felt more comfortable teaching online, though noted it cannot replace traditional in-person teaching and comes with its own limitations.
2. Reflection on Peer Teaching

Day 1
On this day we started our peer teaching but
unfortunately I was not able to attend the same as I
had some unavoidable engagement that day (exam),
hence I was absent from the meet.

Day 2
I was in meet 1 where we had two sessions of
collaborative teaching, first session was handled by the
trio of Arathy, Meera and Surya, where introduction
was given by Arathy and middle portion and coclusion
was given by Surya. Arathy was confident with her
introduction with colourful and vibrant slides which
generated interest in the students. but I felt some lag
in the teaching of Meera where she could have
handled questions more properly and confidently as
students tried to create deliberate disturbances in the
class which I felt should have been dealt more
confidently and professionaly, which was made up by
the effective conclusion of Surya where she appeared
3. to be friendly to students and answered most of their
questions confidently. Overall class was an interesting
one.
The next session was handled by Meenu Susan, Priji
and Vinitha V. The chapter was introduced by Priji in a
friendly and understandable way, in between there
were some humourous exchanges between the
students which helped in reducing the monotony and
boredom of online class. Later on class was led by
Vineetha she appeared steady but some lag was
noticed here and there but she did her part well.
Finally the class was concluded by Meenu Jose where
she asked the review questions to reinforce the
learning. Overall the class was a good learning
experience for both teachers and students.

Day 3
Today I was in meet 1 for the collaborative teaching my
partners were Shyno Mary George and Meenu S Raj.
We were taking the chapter ‘Little Round Red House’
which was about the task given by a mother to her son
to overcome his boredom. The introduction of the
chapter was given by me about boredom and how to
4. avoid it etc. Since it was first experience for me in
online teaching hence I was a little nervous at the
beginning but gained confidence after few minutes of
interaction. Later Shyno continued the class with
proper explanation of the content, she was well
prepared to do it, as it reflected in her explanation
which was confident and clear. Lastly Meenu
concluded the lesson with asking proper review
questions to the students. Overall class was a good
experience to our team and it also helped us to make
an effective opening in online teaching.
Next session was handled by Arathy, Meera & Surya
where introduction was given by Arathy and middle
portion and coclusion was given by Surya. Arathy was
confident with her introduction with colourful and
vibrant slides which generated interest in the students.
but I felt some lag in the teaching of Meera where she
could have handled questions more properly and
confidently as students tried to create deliberate
disturbances in the class which I felt should have been
dealt more confidently and professionally, which was
made up by the effective conclusion of Surya where
she appeared to be friendly to students and answered
5. most of their questions confidently. Overall class was
an interesting one. Thus we concluded our day.

Day 4
Today we began our individual teaching of the lesson
plans prepared. Today I was in meet 2. The first class
was taken by Ms. Ancy Varghese, she was well
prepared with her lesson. She first gave a mock reading
of the chapter which she taught and then made
students to read the chapter followed by the
explanation of the same. Later she discussed difficult
words and made the same clear to the students. I
personally liked her powerpoint presentations which
she made with the templates made by her own efforts
which were impressive. The class was concluded by an
online quiz (testmoz) related to the chapter.
The next class was taken by Ms. Alina Sara Elias, she
taught a poem to students. While listening to her I was
impressed by her way of pronunciation and style of
presentation which was very elegant and professional.
Her reciting of the poem and the explanation of the
same generated a natural interest in the students
which can be adopted by others in their teaching. She
6. discussed review questions with the help of a quiz and
concluded the chapter.
Next class was taken by Ms. Shyno Mary George. She
appeared very confident with her chapter which was
‘The Last Leaf’ by O Henry which was about hope and
friendship and overcoming adverse circumstances. She
enquired about some students who seemed to be
absent from the class and later on caught up with
them. She used effective slides and flash cards during
her teaching. She did the mock reading and then
cleared the doubts of the students by making the read
the text. She concluded her chapter by assigning a
short activity on the importance of friendship.

Day 5
Today there was only one meet and it was my maiden
attempt at online individual teaching. The session
began with the class of Arathy JB who in her well
known style was always pleasing and with a smile on
her face began the class on a positive note. She taught
a poem today, she read the stanzas from the poem and
explained the difficult words later on, she was very
convincing in her explanation and did her job without
7. much effort i.e, naturally. She concluded her class with
an online quiz.
Next class was taken by Ms. Joshini Jose from the
chapter ‘The Race’ by Nisha Punjabi, which is a chapter
related to sports and athletes. She began the chapter
with proper introduction of the theme i.e, sports, she
showed some pictures of former athletes and asked
some questions related to sports. Later on she taught
two paragraphs from the story through which students
were introduced about what was story about and its
main characters. Throughout the class teacher was
confident and presentable, she interacted with
students and cleared their doubts regarding difficult
words. She concluded the class with an online quiz.
Next class was taken by me. I took the class on the
chapter ‘ Happiness Machine’ by Ray Douglas Bradbury
an award winning American writer. I began the chapter
with some slides that were related to the chapter like
showing half filled glass of water and explaining
students that happiness lies in the way we look at the
things. Later on I started reading the text but in
between there was a disturbance in managing my
presentation and the class simultaneously which made
me nervous and that reflected in my teaching,
8. somehow I finished my class but I exceeded the given
time limit and was not satisfied with my performance.
As it was my first attempt at individually handling an
online class I later realized that should I had assigned
the task of presenting to someone else things would
have ended in a better way.
The last class was taken by Ms. Dhanya. She started the
class with her vibrant, colourful and beautiful
powerpoint presentation which drew the attention of
the students towards her teaching. She appeared very
calm and confident in her presentation and teaching,
the only minus I noticed in her was that she needed to
be more louder. She managed the class well and
confidently handled the student queries. She ended
the class with an online quiz.

Day 6
There were three meets (Google) running parallel today
and I was given place in second meet. There were five
classes conducted in this meet during the allotted time.
First class was taken by Ms. Sabin Mariam Sabu. The
chapter selected was ‘The Race’ an award winning short
story by Nisha Punjabi from the textbook of class IX. The
9. teacher began the chapter with appropriate confidence by
showing the pictures of former athletes which aroused the
interest of the students and the same was maintained
throughout the class with the help of colourful and vibrant
presentation, the text was read with proper pronunciation
and stress which helped in sustaining the interest of
students. The class proved to be interactive as students
gave proper responses to the review questions asked. The
class was a nice experience to both teacher and student.
The next class was taken by Ms. Treeshma Titus. She took
a class on climate change based on the speech of famous
Hollywood actor Mr. Leonardo Dicaprio in UN assembly.
The title of the chapter was ‘Climate change is not a
Hysteria. But a fact.’ She showed some pictures related to
climate change. She was confident in her teaching and
read the text with proper stress and pronunciation. Most
interesting part of her class was the original video of the
speech given by Leonardo which helped students to listen
to the English of a native speaker, which aroused a great
interest in students towards the class. She concluded the
class with an interesting word game.
The next class was taken by Ms. Vinitha V. ‘School of
Sympathy’ was the chapter take by her. It was a chapter
about a school for specially abled children being treated in
10. a normal way. She began her chapter confidently, by
making the students read the chapter, she was friendly in
her teaching but was not able to sustain the confidence
level in the class however she concluded the chapter on a
positive note.
The fourth class was taken by myself (Anoop Abraham) on
the chapter ‘Song of the rain’ from the textbook of class IX.
It was a poem describing the beauty of rain. From the
experience of the last class I had an idea that I have to
assign the duty of presentation to someone else so that I
can focus on the content and its explanation and by doing
the same, I was in much control unlike the previous class
where I went short of time, there was no such problem in
this class and I confidently explained the meaning of the
stanzas of poem with the poetic devices used in it. I also
asked some review questions for which I got proper
responses. It was a good experience for me.
The last class was taken by Miss Alina Sara Elias. She began
the class in a novel manner that by requesting everyone in
the meet to pray for a minute, which itself was a sign of
the upcoming chapter i.e, ‘ A Prayer in the Spring’ by
Robert Frost. She taught in a highly confident and
professional manner and students were enjoying her class
but that enjoyment didn’t last long as there was a
11. hindrance in the class because of the poor network
connection on the part of the teacher hence class has to be
cut short. Excluding the technical issue the class was an
excellent one.

Day 7
The day begin with my class on the chapter ‘The Race’
which was earlier taken by somebody else, so I thought
that the repetition will make class dull, but as I began
teaching the chapter I felt no such thing, students
responded appropriately and the confidence which I
gained from the previous class continued in this class
as well. I taught two paragraphs with attractive slides
and explained it’s meaning and discussed the difficult
words and their usage with students, alongside the text
reading done by them. I also asked questions related to
the chapter to reinforce the learning. I managed to
complete the content in the given time and I believe
the content was effectively delivered.
Next class was taken by Ms. Vineetha who taught the
chapter ‘Solitude’ an inspirational poem by Ella
Wheeler Wilcox, she taught steadily but as a beginner
her lack of confidence was visible here and there. She
12. made students recite the poem, then explained the
poem line by line. Later on difficult words were
discussed. The theme of the poem was ‘Be happy and
the world laughs with you and be sad there is none’.
Next class was taken by Miss Shijini Jose. The chapter
taught by her was ‘First Showers’ by Nalini Sharma. She
appeared confident in her teaching. I liked the quiz and
discussion session in her class.
Next class was taken by Meenu S Raj for the Chapter
‘Taj Mahal’ by Rabindranath Tagore. She appeared low
in confidence from the beginning of the class and it
seemed that she was not properly prepared for the
same, and to make matters worse low network
connectivity added to more problems as a result class
was wind up in short duration.
Next class was taken by Miss Priji Sasidharan. She took
the chapter ‘The Light on the Hills’ by Lucy Clifford. She
began the class in a variety by asking students to draw
a picture and send it to her through whatsapp, most of
the students responded to the gesture. She appeared
confident and composed. Further teacher gave a mock
reading of the story which was followed by the
explanation of the same, but it was noticed that the
13. student participation was on a lower side in the class.
However teacher dealt with the class in a nice way.
The final class for the day was taken by Ms. Treeshma
Titus (On Killing a Tree by Gieve Patel). She tried to
create a build up about the chapter by giving a fine
introduction about the topic. Later on a video was
played by her related to the topic and then explained
the poem in an understandable way. At the end of the
class she made students to play a online game which
was very interesting, but she taught only one
paragraph and had to cut short the class due to the
tiredness of the students.
14. Overall Experience
The Covid 19 pandemic which has defined the year
2020 in every aspect of human life and education is no
exception to this, rather it is one of the worst effected
industry in this pandemic. In order to counter this
challenge schools and colleges resorted to online
teaching worldwide and has proved a very viable
alternative to traditional classroom in these times of
crisis. Being a slightly experienced person in the field of
teaching I can feel the difference that an online
teaching has in comparision to an offline one. Most of
the time when I did peer teaching it didn’t appeared
realistic because a traditional classroom has challenges
of its own. One has to manage 30-40 students at a time
and teacher can know their responses immediately but
that’s not the case with online teaching, a teacher has
certain limitations for enforcing discipline in the class.
Add to that a teacher can never know how effective his
/her teaching is because student are not present
before him /her. But some amount of peer teaching
has given me some confidence to handle online class
and an opportunity to observe the class of others,
through which I can make corrections in my class. But it
is for sure that online teaching can never fully replace
