1. WEEKLY REFLECTION
School Teaching
The second phase school induction program as a part of our B.Ed Training was
started on 25th January 2021 and ended on 15th February 2021. I had to take classes on
three weeks at Govt G.H.S.S, Parassala, Thiruvananthapuram. Igot the students from IX
class to teach. The classes were conducted fully in online mode through the platform of
Google Meet.
WEEK -1
The first week of my internship was held on 25th January 2021 to 28th January
2021. The time schedule was 7.00pm to 7.30pm, so I asked the students to join before 10
minutes. Everyday I greeted the students with smile at first when they were joining,then I
created good rapport with them through the informal interaction. In the first week I
taught a play “ Listen to the Montain”by Kavery Nambisan describes about the protection
of Mountain and also we can see the interaction between humans and nature.I provide
necessary information about the class and I created provision to read the lesson by
students and after explaining the content I asked some questions. Students answered very
well to the questions . All of them listened the classes attentively and responded well
with the questions asked by me. Their responses made the class the active and lively.
Students also did the activities which I gave before concluding the class and they
2. presented it well by unmuting their microphones. Usually I ended the class by giving
them an assignment , some of the students sent its answers to my whatsapp number. Ifelt
very positive after ending each of the classes. The students cooperated well with me and
their attitude towards me encouraged my teaching skills. Though it was an online mode
of class studenta actively participated in the class. I could understand that the students
were bored at their houses, so they like face to face online classes in this pandemic
situation. The first week of the classes were filled with the positive atmosphere.
WEEK – 2
On 1ST March 2021 to 5th March 2021 was the second week of the teaching
practice. In this weak I taught a new chapter from next unit . The title of the chapter “
The jungle Air Crash written by Juliane Koepcke. I provide different types of entry
activities like videos and images I remember the name of the students. Each day I show
a recap slide about previous class on the next day.I provide necessary information about
the class and I created provision to read the lesson by students and after explaining the
content I asked some questions. Students answered very well to the questions . All of
them listened the classes attentively and responded well with the questions asked by me.
Their responses made the class the active and lively. Students also did the activities
which Igave before concluding the class and they presented it well by unmuting their
microphones. Usually I ended the class by giving them an assignment , some of the
students sent its answers to my whatsapp number. I felt very positive after ending each of
the classes. In this week I contacted a surprise diagnostic test for the class but students
3. wrote the test paper and send the answers to my whatsapp number. Through this text
paper I can understood the difficulties of the students, I can also provide suggestions in
order to overcome the difficulties. Overall this week was ver good.The students
cooperated well with me and their attitude towards me encouraged my teaching skills.
Though it was an online mode of class studenta actively participated in the class. I could
understand that the students.The support from students made me to lead the classess
confidently.
WEEK – 3
On 8 th March 2021 to 15th March 2021 was the third week of the teaching practice.
This is the last week of my second phase school induction program. This week is filled
happiness, surprise and sorrowful moments.The class was at 7.00pm. From the informal
interaction with the students, students are very much bored at their houses. In this week I
continued the story “ The Jungle Air Crash” by Juliane Koepcke and completed it. Each
day I provide different activities such as videos and pictures. By providing different
activities students are very much excited and they eagerly wait to hear the further
explanations provided by the students. In the third day of this week I contacted a 25 mark
text paper based on the chapters “ Listen to the Mountain”, “The Jungle Aircrash”. Most
of the students attend the text paper and on the next day I announced the results. Also,
Iexplained the answers and students understood their mistakes. I advised them to study
well. In the last day of my B.Ed training the students were very sad which they expressed
through their words. I got positive feedback from my students. I could feel the
4. importance of me in their life. Every teacher can make changes in their students life.
Students also wished me all the best for my future. Though it was an online mode of
teaching practice which taught me a lot. In my life these days are unforgettable
experience.
PEER TEACHING
The peer teaching was started on 22nd February 2021 and ended on 2nd March
2021. As we know, peer teaching is one of the best ways to master a particular subject.
Due to the rushed schedule, I took two or three classes in a day, so my peer teaching was
completed within two weeks. Except one class, others were online class.
WEEK 1
The first week of my peer teaching was conducted on 22nd February 2021 to 27th
February 2021. I took twelve classes in this week . The first class was taken in the
classroom at college. It was a long time to teach a class on an offline mood. It make a
feeling that it was my first class. My peers helped me a lot to conduct my class a unique
piece. Because of Covid -19 pandemic situation, I decided to take other classes in online
mode. In this week, I taught the lessons “From a Railway Carriage” wriiten by Robert
Louis Stevenson describes about a train journey, “ Song of the flower written by Khalil
Gibran that unveils the beauty of flower, “ The Nightingale and the Rose” written by
Oscar Wilde that says how nature helps the man in the time of his needs. My peers
5. attended the class without fail and cooperated well with me. They criticized my classes
and gave instructions for me to improve my teaching skill.
WEEK 2
As per the B.Ed curriculum , I had to take fifteen peer teaching classes. The
remaining three classes were taken in this week. I taught the poem “First Showers” and
Merchant of Venice”. “First shower” by Nalini Sharma which depicts the beauty of rain
and “Merchant of Venice” by William Shakespeare depicts light on importance of
friendship. The classes were in the online mode. My peers cooperated well with me. They
listened the class attentively and replied well to my questions. By asking the questions
while teaching, I could catch the attention of my peers. They also tried to write the
answers of the activity questions. In the last day of my peer teaching, I asked feedback.
They positively commented about my power point presentation and advised me to
improve my pronunciation and language fluency. I thanked all of them for their well
cooperation.
