2. Research
• The research was strong as it gave a few different clear guide lines as to
what I would create and for the people who I was creating it for It was
made easier as I was also to an extent making it for myself to see how far I
could go with some of my art which is on the double page spread it turned
out alright but I need to be able to draw better to get to where I want to
be and then there was the proposal which gave me an exact target
audience and it would also tell me a lot about them and yet again it was
helpful as I was going to make it for myself so I only had to put what I think
I am in the primary audience and then for the secondary audience come
up with an audience fairly similar but also completely different it also gave
me a precise outline for what I wanted to make for my project.
3. Research
• As for the research I didn’t know how to do that bibliography and so I
didn’t fill it in until the end which was bad because that just made
me even more confused and also for the research analysis I don’t
think I added enough detail to it and so it seems kind of cryptic and it
is difficult to understand. On the proposal there were two bits that I
didn’t like because the rationale looked so small that it made me feel
as if I was useless at this sort of thing the same could be said for the
evaluation part because I didn’t know what to put in for it and thus
made something up that kind of fitted the explanation of what you
wanted.
4. Planning
• The initial reaction gave me a good guideline as to what I was going to do such
as what I wanted to include such as interviews which I didn’t involve and
things such as the amount of writing to the ratio between writing and pictures
the mind map that I actually used for the project was useful but the others
weren’t. Then there was the mood board I did three separate ones which were
helpful in there own way apart from the advert one because I didn’t make an
advert but the others were good because they gave me a lot of visual
references as to what looks good it is a shame that I didn’t try to do something
similar to them and as for the mood board analysis it did the same thing but
just expanded on it in words and just in general gave me lots of inspiration.
The experiments were good because they gave me some good visual ideas for
the front cover and it also showed me what kind of fonts to use and some
sorts of colour gradients which are incredibly useful. The style Sheet was good
because I did one for both the front cover and the double page spread which
yet again gave me even more inspiration of what to do and then all I did was
have to put all of it into words and then the content slide made it slightly
difficult to alter anything I did
5. Planning
• The weaknesses of the planning was the mind map the other two I
had to do were completely useless and were a waste of space and
time and also the bibliography I saved till the very end again which
was confusing because I didn’t know what to do for it. As for the
experiments the only bits that I really don’t like are the double page
spread and the reflection the reflection because it seemed a little
bit basic and as for the DPS it just looks as if I almost did no work
towards it whereas there was a lot masks and a colour gradient and
I was also messing about with the idea of using different fonts. The
pre-production there were only two things I didn’t like about it and
that was the fact at how I left the layout to the very end and also
the content slide which just made the whole project just a little bit
constricted.
6. Time Management
• All of the paperwork was pretty much good and on time however there
were a few exceptions such as the bibliography's and the layouts on the
pre-production but apart from that they were all good and on time but
when it comes down to the actual production I was inexplicably slow and
the drawing took a long time to actually come to me and when it came
down to the second to last day of production I was still actually working on
the drawing only leaving me with a day to complete the front cover and
the double page spread meaning I had to race towards the end of the
project and so the final outcome seems a bit rushed I could have made it
slightly better by completing the paper work faster and then dedicating
less time to the drawing that I used as a sort of fan art but that is how I
would have corrected that and also I should maybe have spent a bit more
time working on the project from home.

Skyrim REVIEW
My project seems a bit more all over the place
however the actual review makes sense and is
topical through out I also like how I included fan art
as a part of the magazine as well as other images
from the game and other advertisements and I also
like the fact that I had used the Skyrim font for the
title of the final result to make it a little bit different
from the rest of the writing I also kind of like how
my project is all over the place as if it were just
randomly set out and then right in the middle of the
design I put my fan art with lots of small details with
in it. Where-as in the actual magazine it is just one
big picture showing off a multitude of characters
with a good art design, it also splits the page orderly
and has about the same amount of writing but it
feels more ordered as it is ordered into columns
with paragraphs for next time add paragraphs make
it feel a little bit more ordered than the this time.
8. Technical qualities
My magazine front cover I like but I feel
as if I should have used a sort of font
from dafont instead because it might
have added a little bit of individuality but
the stripes work well for me which
surround the title and as for the main
image in the background I really like it
with the added colour gradient and the
masks it really works well I also like how I
used different fonts for almost
everything. The things that I don’t like is
the other images that I had used I think I
should have left it without the images
also the barcode and issue number make
the whole magazine cover feel cramped
The Edge magazine is good because of its individual font
with a description of themselves underneath it. The cover
also uses the title of the game that they are going to be
having a special on it and then underneath that they use a
list of other games they are going to be doing reviews on in
the magazine and they also use an issue number and finally
they use an image from the games ad campaign which all
somehow seems very orderly.
9. Aesthetic Qualities
I like how my work looks apart from the other
images apart from the background and the barcode
and issue number make it feel cramped I could have
improved this by either not using the bar code or
issue number and also by not including the other
pictures I had added into the project. For me this is
all I could have done with the time I had left on the
project as I had spent a long time on creating the
fan art which wasn’t even a big feature so I believe
that I could have been more creative with some
more time. I like how I used a different font for
almost everything and I also like the title and
surrounding of the title I also used lots of different
subheadings for what would be in the magazine and
also the background was good because of the colour
gradient added to it.

Skyrim REVIEW
The DPS looks good because of how disordered it
looks, it looks as if it is very individualistic it also kind
of looks as if it were from a scrap book with a little bit
of order when it comes down to the writing which is
all written in minion pro and I made large black
boxes to hold all of the information I also like how the
title of the gage has turned out as the box looks as if
it is fading away and the font I used was the same
one they used for advertising the game which I really
like the look of also there is only one image that I
used that I didn’t do any editing for which was the
one behind the title of the mountains I just didn’t
have enough time to edit it otherwise it would have
been dark as well to fit the aesthetic of the DPS on
this page I also used my fan art drawing which took
ages but was well and truly worth it as it looks great
for a drawing with mouse and keyboard and as for
the dragon and the main character in the ads I used a
grey colour gradient and some masks to make them
darker to make it feel more individualistic as all of the
other magazines I did research for all had light DPS’s.
11. Audience Appeal
I have appealed to my target audience by making my
magazine about games I also used dark colours and
names such as rising war to make it seem more edgy
to entice teenagers and the sort to buy the product
and then I used games such as Skyrim, mass effect,
World of Warcraft, gears of war and Raymond to
entice people from the different fan bases I also
then used different fonts for everything to make it
more individualistic to entice people to look at it and
I also used colour gradients to entice people by
making scenes like this look different and it looks
better with the colour gradient than with out it, most
people from middle class and are socially conscious
type B they easily get bored and so this would entice
them as it is something else to do and as I said most
people like this are like myself and really like video
games however games can also be a good social
point and so can magazines.

The DPS appeals to my audience
because yet again I used colour
gradients and masks to make the
images darker appealing to the edgy
teenagers it also uses such themes
as war and fantasy to yet again
appeal to teenagers and the sort also
for this page I had a special on
Skyrim thus appealing to people
from that fan base also the review is
good so anyone who wants to get
into games would be enticed to read
it and then maybe get the game
itself. Then also there is the fan art
that I used which would mean that it
would also turn into a platform for
socializing and sharing art which
would entice people to look into the
magazine.
